At the press conference on the morning of May 5, Mr. Le Quang Tu Do - Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Information and Communications) said that this unit has made an inspection plan, a list of members of the delegation and sent an official dispatch to relevant ministries and branches to send people.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Information and Communications will coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Public Security and the General Department of Taxation to conduct a comprehensive inspection of TikTok's operations in Vietnam. The program is expected to focus on issues such as content distribution, taxes, e-commerce, and advertising. Mr. Do emphasized that the expected time will start from May 15 and last until the end of May.
Previously, in a meeting in early April 2023, the Ministry of Information and Communications announced 6 violations of TikTok in Vietnam. These violations include TikTok's failure to effectively control content related to politics , anti-Party and anti-State content, fake news, nonsense, toxic content, and dangerous content for children.
TikTok uses automatic distribution algorithms to create trends and spread content to attract views, regardless of the offensiveness, causing negative effects on the community and young people.
In addition, TikTok has also opened an e-commerce segment, leading to the third violation: the platform does not have effective measures to prevent commercial activities, business, trading, and advertising of counterfeit goods, fake goods, aphrodisiacs, and functional foods of unknown origin.
In TikTok's Q4 2022 Community Standards Enforcement Report, the platform pledged to prioritize the fastest removal of highly serious content such as child sexual abuse and violent extremism.
TikTok is committed to minimizing the total views of content that violates community standards, while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and fairness for content creators./.
