The People's Committee of Hue City has just sent a document to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) asking for opinions on establishing a national council to evaluate and develop a plan to restore the Nguyen Dynasty throne on display at Thai Hoa Palace - Hue Imperial City, which was recently damaged.

Accordingly, Hue City proposed that either the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism establish a Council or that the Ministry authorize the Hue City People's Committee to establish it and invite the leader of the Department of Cultural Heritage to be the Chairman of the Council.
The Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City also advised inviting 11 members to join the Council, who are representatives of cultural management agencies, experts in research and restoration of antiques in Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City and Hue. According to Dr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City, the Department's leaders discussed this issue and the experts also agreed to participate. It is expected that when the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism gives a plan to establish the Council, a meeting will be held this weekend.

The Scientific Council will assess the extent of damage, analyze and propose methods for restoring the Nguyen Dynasty Royal Throne National Park as well as make recommendations and solutions for regular protection and preservation. After receiving the Council's opinions, the Department of Culture and Sports will report to the Hue City People's Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for opinions on the implementation plan.
With the plan approved by competent authorities, the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City will request the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to implement it with the participation of artisans and close supervision to evaluate the technique, aesthetics, quality...
According to some experts, along with the restoration of the treasure this time, the Council should also consider preserving the damage to the Nguyen Dynasty throne at the time of building the treasure dossier.
Previously, as reported by CAND Newspaper, at 11:55 a.m. on May 24, Ho Van Phuong Tam (born in 1983, from Hue City, residing in Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City) bought a ticket to enter the Hue Imperial City. After that, Tam entered the Thai Hoa Palace area inside the Hue Imperial City, climbed over the security fence inside the palace and sat on the throne of the Nguyen Dynasty King. Next, the subject used his hand to break the left armrest of the Nguyen Dynasty King's throne and smashed it, causing the armrest to break into many pieces.
At 12:10 p.m. the same day, the security force at the Imperial Citadel controlled and arrested the above subject and reported to the Dong Ba Ward Police (Phu Xuan District, Hue City) to make a record of the arrest of the person caught in the act. Currently, the investigation agency is completing the file to handle Ho Van Phuong for the act of "Intentionally damaging property".
