Death toll from Libya floods includes 400 migrants

The report quoted the UN health agency, the World Health Organization, as saying hospitals had reported at least 4,000 deaths in Libya, including 400 migrants.

Thousands of migrants from Africa and the Middle East are stopping in Libya before making the dangerous Mediterranean crossing to escape poverty and conflict.

The International Organization for Migration has previously said more than 100,000 migrants live in flood-hit areas, including more than 8,000 in the Libyan city of Derna. The organization said these were mainly from Chad, Egypt and Sudan.
