The Russian Market, The Box Market in the Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications Building is temporarily closed after recent controversy. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports has had two working sessions with relevant parties.

On the afternoon of October 9, at a regular press conference at the Ho Chi Minh City Press Center, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoi - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports - informed that the department had two working sessions with relevant parties about opening the Russian Market at the Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications Building (125 Hai Ba Trung, Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).

He said that the units are allowed to trade in goods that are not prohibited by law, but must ensure harmony with the development of cultural space because this location is in the core area, adjacent to relics and works on the list of relic inventories such as Ho Chi Minh City Post Office , Notre Dame Cathedral...

Mr. Ngoc Hoi added that the department will continue to work with the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Saigon Ward on this incident and inform the results as soon as possible.

Russian Market, The Box Market closed, no reopening date yet

According to the announcement on The Box Market fanpage, this shopping area is temporarily closed to complete operational items and will open as soon as possible, but there is no specific time yet.

The Russian Market gate next to the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street headquarters and the Autumn Book Store are also in a similar state, with the doors locked. The Russian Market sign on the wall of the building on Nguyen Van Binh Street has been covered with a tarp.

The signboard of Cho Nga, Russian Market is below, the entrance is still there. The Fanpage of Cho Nga announced the new address is 125 Hai Ba Trung, Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City from October 1. The Cho Nga on Vo Van Kiet Street is no longer in operation.

Previously, many opinions said that the operation of the Russian Market and The Box Market at the Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications Building was inappropriate. Because this building is located next to the Ho Chi Minh City Post Office - a famous architectural work of Ho Chi Minh City, which is on the list of works and sites for relic inventory.

On October 6, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City held a meeting to record the opinions of relevant parties regarding public reaction to the opening of the Russian Market in the building managed by Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications.

Mr. Do Ngoc Hung - representative of Ho Chi Minh City Telecom - said that Ho Chi Minh City Telecom's leasing of business premises to businesses is based on legal grounds. Nga Market is just a brand name, not a traditional market.

According to Tuoi Tre Online 's research, Nga Market operates as a shopping mall. Previously, Nga Market operated at 328 Vo Van Kiet, Co Giang Ward, District 1 (now Cau Ong Lanh Ward).
