HBSO's "The Nutcracker" has become an indispensable "icon" during the holiday season at the City Theater.
Based on the classic story by ETA Hoffmann, the work tells the magical journey of a young girl named Clara and her Nutcracker soldier - who transforms into a prince in her dreams and leads her through battles, dances and beautiful landscapes in the Kingdom of Candy.
The work, choreographed and staged with the special stamp that Norwegian choreographer Johanne Jakhelln Constant dedicated to HBSO, completely conquered the hearts of millions of audiences, especially young audiences.
Contributing to the success of the play is the music of the great composer Tchaikovsky. It can be said that this suite is the soul of the ballet, “Pas De Deux” is the best music in the entire ballet and one of Tchaikovsky’s masterpieces. The noble, elegant, and stirring music opens with a cello melody. This melody is repeated with increasing intensity, pushing to an emotional climax.
The gentle Overture in Act 1 tells the story of a young girl named Clara, who receives a wooden nutcracker as a gift. On Christmas Eve, Clara falls asleep under the Christmas tree. The nutcracker transforms into a handsome prince and fights the Mouse King.

In Act 2, the audience will admire the picture of the jubilant festival atmosphere in the Candy Kingdom. After winning, the Nutcracker takes Clara to the magical land where the Sugarplum Fairy and countless candies live. However, in the end, it is all just a beautiful dream for little Clara.
A special feature that the audience should not miss is the live performance of the HBSO Symphony Orchestra and HBSO Women's Choir, bringing authentic and emotional sounds. The entire music will be led by Dr., Conductor Le Ha My, who takes on the role of connecting the stage, artists and audience, promising to be a lively musical experience in the true spirit of Tchaikovsky.
This re-performance will feature talented artists: Do Hoang Khang Ninh (Clara and the Sugarplum Fairy), Le Tuan Anh (The Nutcracker), Le Duc Anh (The Knight), Chika Tatsumi (The Snow Queen), La Man Nhi (The Dewdrop), Dang Minh Hien (Mr. Drosselmeyer) along with students from Salsa Ballet.
