Soc Trang starts construction on another sand mine to supply the horizontal highway

According to records, the MS03 sand mine is located on the Hau River in Nhon My commune, Ke Sach district ( Soc Trang province) with an area of ​​60 hectares and reserves of 1.1 million m3.

Total sand mineral reserves allowed to be exploited are about 470,000m3; allowed exploitation capacity is 470,000m3/7 months; number of exploitation vehicles includes four HB500CV suction ships; number of transport vehicles is four barges.

The mining period for this mine is 7 months from August 15, and Construction Corporation No. 1 - JSC is the project owner.

The exploitation time is from 7am to 5pm. The approved exploitation method is to use sand pumping ships (HB 500CV), exploit sand directly from the riverbed, put it on a barge, transport it to the landfill and consumption site.

The authorities also requested the project owner to arrange mining vehicles in a line along the length of the mine area. At the same time, divide each construction segment (about 284m/vehicle) from downstream to upstream, and carry out mining in the opposite direction of the flow.

This is one of five sand mines on the Hau River in Soc Trang province for which the Provincial People's Committee has prepared documents and procedures to hand over to contractors for exploitation according to a special mechanism to construct component project 4.

Previously, on the morning of August 15, at the MS01 sand mine on the Hau River, in Phong Nam and An Lac Tay communes, Ke Sach district (Soc Trang), Cuu Long Concrete Joint Stock Company also held a groundbreaking ceremony for sand exploitation to supply for the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project, phase 1.

MS01 sand mine has an area of ​​34 hectares; the sand reserve allowed for exploitation is nearly 1.2 million m3, with exploitation period until the end of August 2028.

In early December 2023, the People's Committee of Soc Trang province held a handover ceremony of documents, locations, mining reserves, and environmental impact assessment reports of five sand mines to four contractors of this project to prepare documents and mining procedures according to a special mechanism.

The total area of ​​sand mines handed over by the People's Committee of Soc Trang province to contractors is over 450 hectares, with a total reserve of over 11 million m3. All sand reserves exploited from these five mines are only for Component 4 of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway.

Four contractors were assigned sand mines, including: Truong Son Construction Corporation, package 11, assigned mine MS 05 (reserves 3.36 million m3); Hai Dang Joint Stock Company, package 10, assigned mine MS 11 (reserves nearly 2 million m3); Traffic Construction Corporation 5-CTCP, package 9, assigned mine MS 06 (reserves nearly 2 million m3); Construction Corporation No. 1-CTCP, package 12, assigned two mines (MS 03 and MS 14, with total reserves of more than 3.7 million m3).

Regarding the demand for sand, Truong Son Construction Corporation needs nearly 1.5 million m3; Hai Dang Joint Stock Company needs nearly 1.8 million m3. Traffic Construction Corporation No. 5 needs nearly 1.9 million m3 and Construction Corporation No. 1 needs nearly 1.5 million m3.
