From a difficult locality, Son Kim 2 (Huong Son - Ha Tinh ) has risen to become the first border locality in the country to complete the target program of building new rural areas and advanced new rural areas.

Son Kim 2 Commune was established on January 16, 2004 with 13 villages, 978 households, 4,006 people on the basis of separation from Son Kim Commune. In the early days, Son Kim 2 faced many difficulties such as: lack of staff, facilities, limited budget, difficult life for people, poverty rate up to 58% ...
With the spirit of overcoming difficulties, the Party Committee, government and people of Son Kim 2 have achieved encouraging results. In particular, from 2014 to 2016, the commune mobilized resources up to 154 billion VND, of which people contributed 20 billion VND, successfully implemented the new rural construction program and became the second border commune in the country (after Son Kim 1) to complete the target program of building new rural areas in 2016. In 2020, Son Kim 2 is the first border commune of Huong Son district, of Ha Tinh and of the whole country to complete the advanced new rural standards.

After 20 years of construction and development, Son Kim 2 has continuously risen to become a bright spot in socio-economic development, national security and defense, especially in the field of new rural construction.
Compared to 2004, the average income per capita has increased from 7.5 million VND/year to 53.6 million VND/year; the poverty rate has decreased from 58% to only 2.53%. The whole commune has 3 cooperatives, 4 cooperatives, 3 cooperative groups, 3 enterprises and 143 economic models with income of 100 million VND or more...

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of Huong Son District Party Committee Bui Nhan Sam congratulated and highly appreciated the efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of Son Kim 2 commune over the past 20 years; at the same time, he emphasized that this success comes from the solidarity of the political system and the companionship of the people.
Promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, the Secretary of Huong Son District Party Committee requested Son Kim 2 commune to continue expanding the industrial tea growing area, implementing land conversion and digital transformation; striving to become an advanced new rural commune by 2025.
