With the theme "The sea and islands in the hearts of our people," the highlight of the October activities is the reenactment of the Hoang Sa Soldiers' Commemoration Ceremony of Ly Son Island District, Quang Ngai Province.
The history of defending the nation's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos is written in the sweat and blood of many generations of brave men from the two villages of An Vinh and An Hai in the Sa Ky estuary, and later the two wards of An Vinh and An Hai on Ly Son Island. They are truly heroes whose stories will forever be remembered in the hearts of the people of Quang Ngai today and in the future. The deep roots of today's "Hoang Sa soldier's feast" are the ancient "soldier's sacrifice" ritual of the people of An Vinh village and the clans on Ly Son Island to pray for the safety of the Hoang Sa soldiers before they set off on their mission.
The Hoang Sa Soldiers' Commemoration Ceremony contributes to reflecting the history of protecting Vietnam's territorial sovereignty in the East Sea, especially the sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos by the Hoang Sa - Truong Sa naval forces. It also awakens patriotism, preserves the cultural values of our ancestors, helps connect the community, and educates future generations of Ly Son, Quang Ngai in particular, and Vietnam in general, about our traditions.
The Organizing Committee will also display and exhibit images of the Hoang Sa and Bac Hai militia, the Hoang Sa soldiers' commemoration ceremony, the beautiful landscapes and people of Quang Ngai; and promote tourism products to attract visitors to the beautiful land of Quang Ngai.
In particular, the event also featured activities to exchange and experience the essence of traditional Ly Son cuisine and local products of Quang Ngai province. Ly Son cuisine clearly reflects the close relationship between people and the natural environment. In the journey of searching for marine resources, mapping, and marking sovereignty in the Hoang Sa archipelago, conquering nature… the cuisine of the islanders has clearly demonstrated their attitude towards nature, ensuring the maintenance of life in all circumstances. People have known how to utilize the resources bestowed by nature and the sea during temple festivals and ceremonies honoring ancestors, sending prayers for a peaceful life for the villagers. Some characteristic dishes often associated with the Hoang Sa Soldiers' Feast and typical Ly Son cuisine include cakes and processed seafood…
In addition, the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, "Central Vietnam's Bài Chòi Art," will be introduced to visitors. The lyrics of Bài Chòi art are not only deeply humanistic but also highly educational, guiding people towards ethical and moral values.
Daily and weekend activities of 16 ethnic communities, experiential tourism programs, demonstrations of making and wrapping traditional cakes for tourists, folk games; activities for praying for peace and blessings at spiritual spaces such as Khmer temples and Cham towers... aim to introduce the culture, customs and traditions of the people, along with experiential activities at the common home of the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam.
On weekends, there will be a folk song and dance program called "October Flowers" performed daily by the local people, commemorating the 94th anniversary of Vietnamese Women's Day on October 20th; a folk song and dance program called "Village Festival" performed daily by the ethnic groups of the Central Highlands; and in the Khmer temple space, Buddhist activities such as the Sene Dolta Ceremony and the Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony of the Khmer people will be held.
