Traffic accidents during Tet At Ty 2025 decreased sharply in all 3 criteria

(NLDO) - Traffic accidents during the Lunar New Year 2025 will decrease sharply in all three criteria: number of cases, number of deaths and number of injuries.

According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, during the 9-day Tet holiday, according to a report from the Office of the Ministry of Public Security , there were 445 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 209 people and injuring 373 people.

Compared to the same period of the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, there were 258 fewer cases, 126 fewer deaths, and 232 fewer injuries.

Of which, there were 442 road traffic accidents, killing 207 people and injuring 372 people. Compared to the 9-day Tet holiday of Giap Thin 2024, there were 257 fewer accidents, 124 fewer deaths, and 232 fewer injuries.

This year's Lunar New Year, there was a particularly serious traffic accident, killing 7 people and injuring 2 others (in Nam Dinh ).

Traffic congestion is basically under control, there are some peak days of traffic congestion in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, concentrated on gateway routes and main roads.

The National Traffic Safety Committee said that during the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday, local traffic police mobilized 25,556 working groups, with 32,783 patrols and 137,511 officers and soldiers conducting patrols; detected and handled 55,842 cases of traffic safety violations, fined 172 billion 161 million VND; revoked driving licenses and professional certificates in 2,985 cases, deducted points from 7,035 driving licenses; temporarily detained 428 cars and 20,782 motorbikes. Compared to the same period of the Lunar New Year last year, fines decreased by 40,261 cases.

Regarding handling of alcohol concentration violations, 17,149 cases were detected and handled, compared to the same period last year's Tet, a decrease of 20,365 cases. Regarding handling of speeding vehicles, 13,296 cases were detected and handled, compared to last year's Tet, a decrease of 10,905 cases.

Mr. Le Kim Thanh, Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, commented that with the early and drastic direction of the Prime Minister, Government leaders, and the drastic direction of the Minister of Public Security, the Minister of Transport and other ministries, branches and localities, the traffic order and safety situation during the 9 days of Tet holiday was basically ensured.

Compared to the same period of the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, traffic accident data decreased sharply in all three criteria of number of cases, number of deaths and number of injuries. In particular, violations of alcohol concentration regulations continued to decrease sharply compared to previous years.
