From the identification code for each lychee tree at X20 Thai Nguyen Company to the large-scale digital transformation projects of Corporation 28, the digital vitality is spreading, contributing to building a modern, transparent, and effective military logistics-technical system.

From digital fabric warehouse to smart production line

Early Monday morning, in the raw material warehouse of X20 Thai Nguyen Limited Liability Company (X20 Joint Stock Company, General Department of Logistics and Technology, Ministry of National Defense ), Ms. Pham Thi Phung carefully scanned the QR code on each lychee that had just been imported. With just a few operations on the tablet, all information about fabric type, size, and quantity was updated immediately on the production management system. From there, every department and division in the company could access the data, no longer struggling with paperwork and bookkeeping like before.

“In the past, just entering data for a shipment took a whole morning, now it only takes a few dozen minutes, and it is absolutely accurate,” Ms. Phung shared. Having been with the company for more than 20 years, Ms. Phung said this is an unprecedented change.

From May 2025, when TRE production management software is deployed, the entire production and management process will be digitized. The centralized data system is continuously updated, helping the board of directors monitor productivity and progress in real time, analyze and make timely decisions. The warehouse system is digitized, each type of raw material and product has an identification code, helping import, export, inventory and coordination quickly and accurately.

“Previously, to have analytical data, we had to send people to each department to get reports, which often took half a day to compile,” said Ms. Phuong Thao, in charge of digital transformation at the company.

In the factory, product stages are pre-programmed, hundreds of workers operate rhythmically on the assembly line. Ms. Thuy Vinh, in charge of technology promotion, shared: “Digital transformation helps liberate manual labor. Many stages have been switched to machine processing, both increasing productivity and reducing errors.”

By the end of August 2025, the company had 6 technical innovation initiatives accepted. The unit is investing in automatic fabric spreading and cutting systems, and launching movements such as "Each technical staff is a digital skills expert", "Digital literacy for the masses", and establishing a specialized team to help workers, including older workers, easily access technology.

However, according to Mr. Tran Hong Lam, Deputy Director of the company, there are still difficulties such as unsynchronized technology infrastructure, limited equipment, and a number of workers have not yet adapted.

Mr. Lam said that in the coming time, the company will promote the application of technology, innovate production equipment, promote initiatives, and improve techniques to increase productivity...

Currently, the company has more than 500 officers and employees, both producing military uniforms for national defense and participating in exports. Thanks to the application of technology, revenue, profit and average income have all increased steadily, reaching more than 10 million VND/person/month. "Digital transformation not only improves production efficiency but also improves working conditions and improves the lives of workers," said Chairman of the Board of Members Le Thanh Luong.

Strategic moves in management

If X20 Thai Nguyen One Member Limited Liability Company shows the effectiveness of digital transformation from small changes in each stage, then at Corporation 28, the digital transformation process is deployed at a strategic, methodical, and comprehensive level.

For over 10 years, this enterprise has been at the forefront of applying technology to management, operations and production. A clear mark is the electronic office, with a budget of more than 1.3 billion VND, helping 100% of staff process documents in a digital environment, significantly reducing paperwork and administrative costs. Specialized digital signatures are applied synchronously, ensuring legality and security.

The Corporation has deployed many specialized management software such as ASMS, military and party member management, and is promoting the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, creating an important step forward in modern management.

Many technical innovations save billions of dollars each year.

In production, 3D design technology, QR code warehouse management, online sales channels on Shopee, Lazada, TikTok, Belluni.store have helped online revenue reach about 4 billion VND/year. Many technical initiatives help save billions of VND each year. Currently, 100% of soldiers have completed the basic digital skills framework, many party members have become "digital cores" spreading the spirit of learning technology throughout the unit.

“Digital transformation is no longer a choice, but a mandatory task, the shortest path for defense enterprises to adapt and develop. In that context, the Corporation must be a pioneer, determined and successful in the digital transformation process. The goal is to affirm the leading position in the defense textile sector, build a sustainable Vietnamese brand, and integrate globally,” emphasized Colonel Bui Van Bac, Party Secretary and Chairman of Corporation 28.

The above movements not only show that digital transformation is taking place in each enterprise, but also reflect the great steps of the entire army in implementing Resolution No. 3488 of the Central Military Commission.

Building a smart, autonomous logistics-technical ecosystem

On January 29, 2025, the Central Military Commission issued Resolution No. 3488-NQ/QUTW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation in the military. The Resolution aims to bring the military's science and technology potential into the leading group of the country, with some fields reaching international standards; at the same time, determine to master strategic technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), big data, semiconductors, 5G/6G, quantum; improve autonomy in designing, manufacturing, and modernizing weapons and technical equipment. Along with that, it is necessary to build mechanisms and policies to attract talent, invest in synchronous digital infrastructure, develop a shared data platform and ensure information security.

Implementing the spirit of the Resolution, defense enterprises such as Company X20 and Corporation 28 not only transformed to increase productivity, but also contributed to realizing the major policy of building a smart and modern logistics-technical ecosystem.

At Corporation 28, digital transformation is not just about software applications or automated production lines, but also about changing the management method. All decisions are made on the basis of real-time data; transparent and interconnected operating processes; firewall systems and copyrighted software create a solid security "shield". The enterprise is coordinating with Command 86, the standing agency of the Ministry of National Defense's Digital Transformation Project, to deploy a secret network on the Military Data Transmission Platform (TSLqs) and test shared software throughout the army.

Digital transformation is becoming the "lifeblood" of defense enterprises, not just a technology story, but also a change in management thinking and working culture of soldiers in the digital age.

Not stopping there, Corporation 28 also proactively reaches out internationally, attending defense exhibitions in Laos, Cambodia, Türkiye, cooperating with QWool (Australia) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology to research and develop new products, expand markets and access advanced technology.

Despite facing difficulties in infrastructure, IT human resources and traditional working habits, Corporation 28 aims to complete the ERP system before 2027, digitize 100% of work records, build a qualified digital workforce, and move towards a modern, efficient and safe management model. From innovations at X20 Thai Nguyen One Member Limited Liability Company to large-scale projects at Corporation 28, it can be seen that digital transformation is becoming the "lifeblood" of defense enterprises, not just a technology story, but a change in management thinking and working culture of soldiers in the digital age.

According to the roadmap of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering, by 2030, the entire system will complete the digital logistics ecosystem, ensuring effective and safe training, production and defense management. These are concrete steps to realize Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo and Resolution No. 3488 of the Central Military Commission, towards building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, modern People's Army, mastering digital technology and being autonomous in all situations.
