Geleximco Group starts construction of $319 million automobile manufacturing factory in Hung Yen

Groundbreaking ceremony of Gel-O&J Automobile Factory took place in Hung Yen province

The GEL - O&J automobile manufacturing plant project has a land use scale of 38.1 hectares, a total investment of 319 million USD and is implemented in two phases from 2025 to 2029. This is one of the large-scale and modern projects of the automobile industry in Vietnam, and is also the first Chinese automobile assembly plant in Hung Yen province and Vietnam.

When completed, the factory will have a designed capacity of 120,000 vehicles/year, including main workshops such as: welding workshop, paint workshop, assembly workshop, plastic parts workshop, logistics center, expert area and European standard (EU) testing track.

Mr. Vu Van Tien, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Geleximco Group, spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony.

In addition, the factory is designed according to the "Green Factory - Smart Factory" standard, an advanced model that Chery Group is applying globally. The factory optimizes the use of natural energy, reuses rainwater, treats circulating wastewater and uses environmentally friendly materials. The entire production line applies automation technology and smart management systems, helping to optimize energy and reduce emissions. This will also be the main production base for Omoda & Jaecoo's New Energy Vehicles (NEV) models in Vietnam. Currently, Omoda & Jaecoo Vietnam is distributing SUV models such as Omoda C5, Jaecoo J7 and Jaecoo J7 PHEV (SHS).

The provincial leaders affirmed that Hung Yen always attaches importance to high-tech, environmentally friendly industrial projects that are in line with sustainable development orientation. The provincial government is committed to accompanying businesses, providing maximum support in infrastructure, administrative procedures and construction conditions so that the project can be implemented on schedule, safely and effectively.

Omoda & Jaecoo Vietnam representative said that building a factory in Hung Yen is a strategic step in the brand's global expansion plan. The company is committed to long-term investment, strictly complying with environmental protection regulations, and applying smart, highly automated production lines.

Once fully operational, the factory is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs from the supporting supply chain. The presence of the GEL - O&J automobile factory not only represents a turning point in industrial cooperation between the two countries in the high-tech field; but also affirms Vietnam's role in the global automobile production chain.
