Field training on commercial catfish farming techniques

This is considered a new breeding subject in the province.

The training program was attended by community agricultural extension teams and aquaculture households in Dong Trach commune (Bo Trach). Here, the provincial Agricultural Extension Center transferred techniques in commercial catfish farming, including: Pond systems and auxiliary equipment; breeds and feed; stocking density and notes on stocking procedures to ensure productivity as well as prevent floods.

Local residents visit the catfish farming model of Mr. Tran Van Nam in Dong Trach commune.

Based on the acquired knowledge, farmers have learned and visited the catfish farming model of Mr. Tran Van Nam in Dong Trach commune. This is a model supported by the Provincial Center for Science and Technology after investing in an area of ^3,000m2 . After more than 1 month of farming, the catfish grew and developed well. This is considered a new model in the province to diversify aquaculture species, converting long-standing shrimp ponds that are often affected by diseases to catfish farming.

Commercial catfish farming is considered a new farming species in the province.

Building models and transferring techniques to people aims to replicate the commercial catfish farming model, contributing to reducing exploitation pressure on natural catfish resources to sustainably protect aquatic resources.
