Tchouameni: 'Yamal talks too much'

After Lamine Yamal made some disparaging remarks about Real Madrid ahead of El Clasico, it was "Los Blancos" who responded most strongly - with a 2-1 victory at the Bernabeu.

“I like it,” smiled Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni after the win. “There was a little bit of friction at the end, but that only made us fight harder.”

The French midfielder believes that Lamine Yamal's provocative words did not shake Real Madrid, but on the contrary, they gave them more motivation: "They were just words, nothing serious. If Lamine wants to say something, then say it. He talks too much. Above all, the game is decided on the pitch - and today, we won. The whole team is satisfied with this performance and will continue to move forward."

Before the match, 18-year-old Barcelona star Lamine Yamal caused a stir when he called Real Madrid “whiners and thieves” during a Kings League livestream hosted by Gerard Pique. However, on the pitch, the Spanish royal team had the “final say”, with goals from Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham.

Fermin Lopez scored for Barca, while Pedri was sent off in injury time. After the final whistle, players from both teams had a minor clash, in which Dani Carvajal and Vinícius Jr. were caught teasing Yamal.

With this victory, coach Xabi Alonso became the second in the last nine Real Madrid coaches to win in his first El Clasico, after Zinedine Zidane in 2016. His team had 23 shots - the highest number of a coach participating in El Clasico for the first time since the 2003/04 season.

Alonso said the victory had great morale: he said the players “needed the feeling of winning a big game like this” to boost their confidence and team spirit.

Asked about Vinicius’s angry exit from the pitch after being substituted, Alonso refused to push the issue further, saying Real Madrid would “handle it internally” and insisting the Brazilian “deserved this victory”.
