Thach Thanh speeds up construction progress of natural disaster prevention and response project

In Thach Thanh district, there are 3 projects to prevent and overcome natural disasters being implemented, including: Project to handle landslides on the right bank of the Buoi River in Thach Dinh commune; Project to urgently handle landslides on the right bank of the Buoi River in Dinh Hung village, Thach Dinh commune and Project to prevent landslides on the left bank of the Buoi River, Thanh Hung commune. These projects aim to overcome incidents, build new embankments, and ensure safety for about 3.2km of the Buoi River embankment, with a total investment of about 100 billion VND. Most of these projects will be implemented from the end of 2024, due to the urgent need to prevent and overcome natural disasters. After signing the contract, the investors immediately started construction.

At the embankment project to prevent landslides on the left bank of the Buoi River, Thanh Hung Commune in recent days, despite the hot weather, the contractor, Truong Son Irrigation Construction Joint Stock Company, has organized 2 construction teams to carry out the construction and installation of items according to the approved design. The project is 1.42km long, with a total investment of over 43.2 billion VND, invested by the Thach Thanh District Investment and Construction Project Management Board. According to the project approval decision, the project will be implemented in 3 years, from 2024 to 2026.

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, a technical officer of Truong Son Irrigation Construction Joint Stock Company: "Currently, the company has completed over 65% of the project volume. Although the construction process encountered unfavorable weather and high construction material prices, we have tried to overcome it, focusing on the highest human resources and machinery to speed up the work progress, as well as ensuring the quality of the project. Up to now, the most difficult part is the construction and installation of underground embankment foundations under the riverbed along the entire project route has been completed. We strive to complete the project before July this year."

Similarly, the construction atmosphere of the Buoi River right bank landslide incident project in Thach Dinh commune is also very urgent. According to the approval decision of the competent authority, this project will build a new embankment to prevent landslides on the Buoi River bank through Thach Dinh commune with a length of over 12km, including 3 locations in Thach An, Tien Thanh and Dinh Hung villages, with a total investment of over 42 billion VND. After completion, this project will overcome the situation of embankment landslides, ensuring the safety of the property of nearly 500 households with nearly 1,800 people and more than 82 hectares of agricultural land in Thach An, Tien Thanh, Dinh Hung, Dinh Tan villages, Thach Dinh commune. Up to now, the basic items of the anti-landslide project, such as the embankment footing, embankment body, steps... have been completed.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Luan, Director of the Management Board of Construction Investment Projects of Thach Thanh district, said: "In order to enhance the ability to respond, minimize damage caused by natural disasters, contribute to perfecting infrastructure to serve socio -economic development, and at the same time accelerate the disbursement of public investment capital, the district has focused on directing drastically and organizing the synchronous implementation of many solutions. In particular, the District People's Committee has directed departments, offices, and People's Committees of communes with projects to urgently carry out site clearance work to ensure compliance with legal regulations and on schedule. At the same time, organize propaganda work on land and construction investment laws so that people understand, agree and create conditions for contractors to implement the project."

Notably, with a spirit of urgency and determination, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Thanh district has also established working groups to conduct on-site inspections of the project in general and the project of natural disaster prevention and mitigation in particular to directly grasp the progress, remove arising obstacles, and create favorable conditions for contractors to implement the project to ensure progress and quality of the project. At the same time, he directed relevant departments and offices to quickly complete legal procedures and disburse capital to contractors according to the volume of work...

Implementing the district's direction, the Thach Thanh District Construction Investment Project Management Board has regularly visited and monitored the progress and quality of the project. It has focused on guiding and resolving related legal procedures for contractors. The Board also requested construction units to focus resources to ensure the construction progress and quality of the project according to plan.

By the end of April 2025, all three projects and works on natural disaster prevention and response in Thach Thanh district were completed on schedule. The district is also making efforts to complete the procedural steps and prepare to invest in a number of natural disaster prevention projects in the area.
