On September 26, a Polish female passenger was arrested at Suvarnabhumi International Airport after allegedly making a bomb threat on a Thai VietJet flight from Da Nang (Vietnam) to Bangkok. Flight VZ961 was carrying 121 people, including 1 infant, and 6 crew members. According to a report by Suvarnabhumi Airport General Manager Kittipong Kittikachorn, the airport's security center was alerted at 2:18 p.m. on September 26 about the threat on the plane. Immediately, security medical , fire and rescue teams were present at the plane, and were directed to an isolated parking location on the east side of the airport. Passengers and crew were promptly evacuated and taken to the airport's fire and rescue station. Security personnel conducted a thorough search of the passengers and their carry-on luggage, while an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team inspected all checked baggage and the aircraft. No suspicious objects or explosives were found. The emergency response plan was lifted at 4:31 p.m. the same day. Thai VietJet then escorted all passengers and crew to their destinations as normal. The incident did not affect the airport's general operations. Under Thai aviation law, anyone who intentionally transmits false information causing panic on a flying aircraft is subject to a prison term of up to five years and/or a fine of up to 200,000 baht ($6,150) upon conviction. In particular, if such actions endanger the safety of an aircraft in flight, violators will face a prison sentence of 5 to 15 years and/or a fine of 200,000 to 600,000 baht upon conviction.

Vietjet speaks out about passenger bomb threat

Regarding the incident, a representative of Vietjet said that after a passenger reported a bomb on board, the crew quickly implemented aviation safety measures and notified the security department at the arrival airport. After the plane landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport (Thailand), the plane was thoroughly checked for passenger and baggage security. After the inspection process, the authorities quickly concluded that the information was false. The relevant departments once again conducted a security check on the plane to ensure maximum safety. The passenger who reported the false information was reported to the authorities for handling according to regulations. The airline affirmed that it always complies with strict safety regulations according to international standards. Currently, all disruptive acts that cause confusion among passengers and affect the operation of airlines will be punished according to regulations.
