Among the people visiting Uncle Ho's hometown, there were those who came for the first time, and those who had been there before, but each time they put their soul into this sacred space, it was a new experience, new in their soul because of the reverence and emotion. Peaceful and very intimate.
Rows of areca trees surround the thatched houses with double-basin bamboo walls, where 135 years ago Uncle Ho was born and where he was nurtured by the profound knowledge of his predecessors who often discussed...
Uncle Ho's hometown. |
The young generation was very crowded, the children came to visit and learn about the life and career of beloved Uncle Ho. In front of each board recording the event content, seeing the children attentively taking notes, my heart was filled with emotion. Uncle Ho's poem returned: "Children are like buds on a branch / Knowing how to eat, sleep, and study is good". That was Uncle Ho's special concern, boundless love and also his wish and entrustment to society for the future generation of the country's owners.
In front of the artifacts in each house, next to the cool green bamboo groves, the tour guides explained to each group with their typical Nghe An accent, full of emotion, elegance and sincerity. They were cultural messengers who deeply understood the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh and the love of their homeland and family for him. Around me, there were teary eyes.
It is difficult to contain one's emotions when seeing with one's own eyes the simple artifacts that were associated with Uncle Ho's childhood and youth (Nguyen Sinh Cung, Nguyen Tat Thanh) to nurture him to become Ho Chi Minh, a great leader, a world cultural celebrity.
The familiar objects of the rural culture of the North Central region are arranged in the space of the houses as when Uncle Ho was in his homeland with his father Nguyen Sinh Sac and mother Hoang Thi Loan: altar, desk, wooden table, bamboo sofa, bamboo bed, food chest, bamboo pen holder of his father, loom of his mother; then the hemp hammock filled with mother's lullabies, bamboo dining table with simple meals. Still here are bamboo curtains, rattan sticks, stone mortars, earthenware jars, kitchen cabinets, baskets...
Sen villagers recounted that when he returned to his hometown, Uncle Ho looked at the food chest that was very familiar to him and his brother Khiem. He was silent... then said: "You guys are really good at keeping the old wooden chest still there". Each familiar object not only contains precious stories, but viewers and listeners also feel deeply to imagine the image of Uncle Ho being very close, very close...

The space of the Kim Lien National Special Relic Site both exudes the great dignity of President Ho Chi Minh and is both intimate and peaceful. The areca trees are still immense, the peanut rows and sweet potato fields are still green like in the old days. The entrance gate is always open with bamboo curtains, the path to the site is still lined with neatly trimmed hibiscus. There are still grapefruits hanging in the corner of the yard, jackfruit gardens hanging halfway up. There are still bamboo groves and native plants embracing the simple houses... In the grounds of Uncle Ho's paternal home, there are many large trees that provide shade to soften the scorching summer weather. There are many trees planted by high-ranking leaders as souvenirs and trees planted with the sincere and affectionate hearts of international friends when they visit Uncle Ho's hometown...
Coming to Kim Lien, Uncle Ho's hometown, people still linger because of the scent of flowers rising from the trees, lotus covering the lakes and canals in green and pink, purple bougainvillea welcoming each house gate and flowers of many other trees swaying in the wind... Lotus is a flower of noble qualities, radiant yet simple, gently spreading its fragrance in the full breeze of the countryside. The haunting melody of the song "People returning to visit the homeland" by musician Thuan Yen echoes in me: "Walking in the midst of love amidst the immense scent of lotus"... "Ho Chi Minh, You are a lotus flower spreading the fragrance of life"...
