In Thanh Hoa , the Department of Education and Training said that the two schools directly affected were Thieu Duong Primary School, which was flooded, and Nam Xuan Kindergarten, which had its roof blown off. The fence system at three other schools also collapsed with a total length of 33m, including: Thieu Do Primary School, Thieu Ly Secondary School, and Tam Lu Kindergarten.
These damages occurred right before the new school year, forcing many localities to urgently fix them to ensure the opening of the school year.
At Thieu Ly Secondary School (Thieu Trung Commune), many functional rooms such as: Group room, tradition room, library room... were leaking; 10m of the fence behind the school collapsed. To ensure the safety of machinery, equipment, and books, the school had to use raincoats and tarpaulins to cover them.

At Thieu Do Primary School (Thieu Trung commune), the water level was also 40cm high, and 6m of the school's back fence collapsed.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, Principal of Thieu Ly Secondary School, said that the school has mobilized teachers and students to come to the school to clean up. At the same time, they have advised the local government on a plan to rebuild the collapsed wall.
“Because the collapsed fence is located next to a large canal, it is very dangerous for students when entering the new school year. For now, we will stretch ropes and put up warning signs to prevent students from going to this area,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen shared.

According to teacher Trinh Quang Khanh, Principal of Thieu Do Primary School, the school is located in the local water center, so the water has flooded the school yard 40cm deep in the past two days. This afternoon (August 26), the school has had teachers do a general cleaning; check the electrical system, fix the network system, tables and chairs, etc. At the same time, coordinate with the Center for Disease Control to spray disinfectant before August 29 to avoid disease when students enter the school.

In addition to general cleaning, localities also plan to strengthen school safety inspections and supplement disaster prevention materials. On the other hand, propaganda work to parents and students has been stepped up, aiming to raise awareness, share difficulties, and support schools to soon stabilize the new school year.

Mr. Le Duy Quang, Head of the Department of Social Culture, Thieu Trung Commune said: “Before typhoon Kajiki made landfall, the Department directed schools to develop a plan to relocate equipment, especially electronic equipment, to a safe place; books, newspapers, and magazines in the library must be arranged and covered; the infrastructure system must be tied down and reinforced; there must be a plan to trim trees...
This morning (August 26), the commune issued a plan to quickly mobilize forces, clean up schools, prepare facilities, and the local authorities have also directed the coordination with the Medical Center to spray disinfectants. The Department has also directed the principals of units to take measures to ensure the safety of students, such as posting warning signs not only in places where walls have collapsed but also in places where the wall system is at risk of collapsing after being flooded for a long time.
