An Khanh Commune opened the 1st Sports Festival

On October 26, An Khanh commune held the opening ceremony of the 1st Sports Festival - 2025.

At the ceremony, 55 contingents participated: the national flag, sports flags, the procession of President Ho Chi Minh's palanquin, red flags, and more than 1,500 cadres, soldiers, civil servants, employees, union members, association members, workers, and outstanding athletes in the "All people practice physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh" movement in An Khanh commune participated in the parade to demonstrate their strength.

The traditional flame, carried by three outstanding athletes from the commune, including: Nguyen Ngoc Diep - a student from Van Con Secondary School, a Taekwondo athlete who won a gold medal at the 2025 National Championship and a gold medal at the 2024 Hanoi Open; Nguyen Nhu Hai Anh - a student from An Thuong B Secondary School, a Taekwondo athlete who won a bronze medal at the 2025 National Club Championship and a silver medal at the 2025 Vinh Phuc Province Open Federation Cup; and Nguyen Thi Huyen - a student from Van Con Secondary School, a Taekwondo athlete who won a bronze medal at the 2025 Hanoi Open Taekwondo Championship and a silver medal at the 2024 Hanoi Summer Games, together carried the flame from the commune's traditional hall to the Congress - a traditional flame symbolizing the spirit of "Unity - courage - wisdom - longevity".

In his opening remarks at the Congress, Chairman of the An Khanh Commune People's Committee Ho Trung Nghia emphasized that for many years, the Party Committee, government, and people of An Khanh have always recognized that developing physical education and sports is a positive contribution to fulfilling socio- economic development, security and defense tasks, improving health, cultivating willpower, educating morality, character, lifestyle, and enhancing the cultural and spiritual life of the people, especially paying attention to, caring for, nurturing, and focusing on training the younger generation.

The commune prioritizes investment in the development of sports and physical education, with the number of households and individuals regularly participating in sports and physical activities increasing steadily each year. Currently, the commune has over 50 effectively operating sports and physical education clubs. The sports festival is also an important occasion to showcase the commune's strength, thereby reviving the proud historical traditions of the homeland and promoting and introducing the land, culture, and people of An Khánh.

The leaders of An Khánh commune hope that, with a spirit of sportsmanship, unity, and honesty, the referees and athletes will strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of the Organizing Committee, maintain discipline in competition, and strive for high achievements in the congress. The youth and children of the commune will continue to study, cultivate virtue, hone their talents, and be creatively proactive, firmly building upon the achievements, promoting the movement "All people practice physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh" in conjunction with the movement "All people unite to build a cultured life," and further developing the sports and physical education movement of each unit, each agency, and the commune as a whole.

The first An Khánh Commune Sports Festival featured 10 competitive events, attracting a large number of athletes from 38 villages and residential areas. The organizing committee awarded prizes to collectives and individuals who achieved outstanding results in building and developing the local sports movement.
