Awarding 345 scholarships to students in Ho Chi Minh City

On the morning of October 26, the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Promotion of Education awarded scholarships to 345 students who overcame difficulties to study well.

The scholarship of the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Promotion of Education is a scholarship awarded to students who overcome difficulties to study well.

In the 2025-2026 school year, the program awarded scholarships to 345 students with a total budget of 1,781 billion VND. Of which, 99 students received scholarships for the first time, 246 students continued to receive scholarships in the following times.

Scholarship for a sustainable future

Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy - Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - highly appreciated the significance and practical results of the scholarship to encourage learning and talent.

Over the years, the association has always strived and persevered in building the association organization in every neighborhood, hamlet, agency, enterprise and school; paying attention to developing and managing members, making excellent contributions to the movement of building a learning society in Ho Chi Minh City. The association not only cares about education but also cares about cultivating qualities, ethics and training skills for students.

"This is a very effective model, clearly demonstrating the humanistic spirit and practical significance of education promotion work in social life," Ms. Thuy commented.

Associate Professor Dr. Truong Thi Hien - Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education - said that scholarships for promoting talents, especially the first-part scholarship model, have become a bright spot rich in humanity in the career of promoting education. This is not only a timely source of material support for students who overcome difficulties to study well, but also a flame of spiritual encouragement, helping them to be more confident in their journey of studying and starting a career.

"Each scholarship is a seed of love planted in the hearts of students. It not only has material value, but also contains a message of faith and hope that society sends.

It is a connection of love between the giver and the receiver, so that from that sharing, many dreams can take flight and many lives can be changed," Ms. Hien shared.

Continuing students' dreams

Representing the students in giving a speech of thanks, Luu Gia My - a new student of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade - expressed her deep gratitude for the deep concern of the school leaders and the members of the study promotion association who created conditions for her to have the opportunity to move forward.

My shared that she was orphaned at birth and adopted. Her parents are both over 60 years old. Her father drives a motorbike taxi and her mother washes dishes for a restaurant. Every day, My helps her mother wash dishes at the restaurant and doesn't come home until 11 p.m. When she received the news that she was accepted to university, My was very happy but worried because she didn't have enough money to pay for her tuition.

"I was very sad because I was afraid of having to quit school, but thanks to the attention of the leadership connected with scholarships such as Tuoi Tre newspaper's Support to School and the Talent Encouragement Scholarship, I had the opportunity to continue," My said emotionally.

Nguyen Ngoc Y Nhu - a scholarship recipient of the 2021 class - shared that thanks to the scholarship, Nhu was able to complete her studies and gain more confidence to move forward.

The scholarship has a special value of gratitude, because in addition to financial support, Nhu also received care and companionship from benefactors whom she had never met before. Thanks to the support both spiritually and materially, she has overcome the shyness and inferiority complex of a first-year student to graduate with honors today, confidently sharing her cherished thoughts and saying thank you.

"Not everyone is born knowing what they want or what they will do, but I believe that you will be inspired to know what kind of person you want to become. And maybe you can't see your direction now, but good things take time and you will be able to do them," Nhu advised the younger generation.

More than 29 billion VND was donated

The scholarship is also known as '1&1 Scholarship' and is implemented in a way where a benefactor (individual or organization) sponsors a student and will sponsor the scholarship for that student throughout their studies.

Reporting at the ceremony, Mr. Ho Phu Bac - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Promotion of Education - said that after 25 years of implementation, the Scholarship Program has awarded to 2,888 students with sponsorship from 684 individuals and 57 corporations, companies, and units with a budget of VND 29,606,020,000 billion.

To date, 2,346 students have graduated from various fields thanks to scholarships. They are now doctors, teachers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and key officials in cities, wards, and communes.

"Many of them are doctors and masters; many of them have been voted by the city as outstanding young citizens and outstanding young teachers of the city; some have been recognized as outstanding young doctors nationwide," he added.
