Scholarships for a Sustainable Future

Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, highly appreciated the significance and practical results of the scholarship program for promoting learning and talent.

Over the years, the association has consistently strived to build its organization down to the neighborhood, hamlet, agency, enterprise, and school levels; paying attention to developing and managing its members, and making outstanding contributions to the movement to build a learning society in Ho Chi Minh City. The association not only focuses on academics but also on cultivating character, ethics, and developing skills for students.

"This is a very effective model, clearly demonstrating the humanitarian spirit and practical significance of promoting education in social life," Ms. Thuy commented.

Associate Professor Dr. Truong Thi Hien - Vice President of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning - stated that scholarships for talented students, especially the one-part scholarship model, have become a bright spot with a strong humanitarian aspect in the cause of promoting learning. This is not only a timely source of material support for students who overcome difficulties and excel academically, but also a source of encouragement, helping them to be more confident on their educational and career paths.

"Each scholarship is a seed of love sown in the hearts of the children. It not only has material value, but also carries a message of faith and hope that society sends."

"It's a heartfelt connection between the giver and the receiver, so that through this sharing, many dreams are given wings and many lives are transformed," Ms. Hien shared.

Helping students pursue their dreams.

Speaking on behalf of the students, Luu Gia My, a new student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, expressed her immense gratitude for the profound care and support from the university's leadership and the members of the scholarship association who have given her the opportunity to continue her studies.

My shared that she was orphaned at birth and adopted. Both her parents are now over 60 years old. Her father works as a motorbike taxi driver, and her mother washes dishes at a restaurant. Every day, My helps her mother wash dishes at the restaurant, only returning home at 11 PM. When she received the news that she had been accepted into university, My was very happy but also worried about not having enough money to cover the tuition fees.

"I was very sad because I was afraid of having to drop out of school, but thanks to the concern of the leaders who connected me with scholarships like the 'Supporting Students to School' program of Tuoi Tre newspaper and talent encouragement scholarships, I had the opportunity to continue," My said emotionally.

Nguyen Ngoc Y Nhu, a scholarship recipient from the 2021 cohort, shared that thanks to the scholarship, she was able to complete her studies and gained more confidence to move forward.

The scholarship holds special value because, in addition to financial support, Như also received care and companionship from benefactors she had never met before. Thanks to their emotional and material support, she overcame the shyness and insecurities of a freshman to graduate with honors today, confidently sharing her aspirations and expressing her gratitude.

"Not everyone is born knowing what they want or what they will do, but I believe that you will be inspired to discover who you want to become. And maybe you haven't seen your direction yet, but good things take time, and you will achieve them," Như advised the younger generation.
