According to information from Thanh Ba District Medical Center, at 8:42 a.m. on September 16, Thanh Ba District Medical Center received patient NDX (residing in Zone 7, Son Cuong Commune, Thanh Ba District, Phu Tho Province) who came to request circumcision surgery. Here, doctors and nurses conducted examinations, ordered tests, performed imaging diagnosis, and performed functional tests to ensure the surgery was performed in accordance with the treatment and surgical protocols of the Ministry of Health .
At about 3:30 p.m. the same day, the patient was taken to the operating room. The doctor then injected the patient with an anesthetic (Lidocaine 40mg/2ml x 3 tubes diluted with 4ml of distilled water) at the site (base of the penis) to perform the procedure.
About 1 minute after injecting the anesthetic, the patient experienced symptoms of abdominal pain, chest tightness, and difficulty breathing; pulse: 156 beats/minute, blood pressure 90/60mmHg.
The surgical team thought of anaphylactic shock (anesthesia poisoning had not been ruled out), so they had the patient lie with his head low, breathe oxygen through a nasal cannula at 10 rpm; called a hospital-wide emergency consultation and reported to the leaders of the Medical Center.
The patient was resuscitated by doctors from the Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poison, anesthesiologists according to the anti-shock protocol of the Ministry of Health , and at the same time requested treatment support from Phu Tho Provincial General Hospital.
The medical team from Phu Tho General Hospital went to Thanh Ba District Medical Center to help with the patient's emergency treatment. At around 6:10 p.m., the patient was transferred to Phu Tho General Hospital for further emergency treatment. At around 11:45 p.m., the patient died.
Currently, the cause of death of patient NDX is being investigated by the police.
