11 more professor and associate professor candidates had their applications rejected

(NLDO) - The State Council of Professors approved the profiles of 900 professor and associate professor candidates. 11 professor and associate professor candidates were not approved by the Council.

On November 3, the Office of the State Council of Professors announced that the State Council of Professors for the 2024-2029 term had met and approved the profiles of 900 candidates, including 71 professor candidates and 829 associate professor candidates. This number includes candidates from the two sectors of Military and Security.

Thus, there are 11 candidates (2 professor candidates, 9 associate professor candidates) who were not approved by the State Council of Professors in this year's professor and associate professor examination.

In 2025, 1,073 candidates applied for recognition of meeting the standards for the titles of professor and associate professor at the basic Professorial Councils.

1,014 candidates were proposed for recognition of meeting standards at 28 Industry and Interdisciplinary Professor Councils.

The Industry and Interdisciplinary Professor Councils continued to meet and considered 911 candidates, including 73 professor candidates and 938 associate professor candidates, who were proposed to the State Professor Council for recognition.

In the final round, 900 candidates received the required number of votes of confidence, accounting for 83.88% of the total number of candidates who submitted their initial applications to the Basic Professor Councils. Of which, the passing rate of professor candidates was 71%, and that of associate professor candidates was 85.2%.

According to the State Council of Professors office, this year, the quality of candidates in 2025 is quite good, foreign language proficiency has improved a lot, and all candidates have guaranteed to have enough scientific research works published in international journals listed in ISI, Scopus or other prestigious journals.

Previously, 836 candidates were recommended by the Faculty Council of Professors of the industry and interdisciplinary fields (not including candidates of the two fields of Military Science and Security Science) for consideration and recognition of meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2025, reaching a rate of 89.6%. 97 candidates were eliminated in this round of consideration.

Specifically, the economics sector had 17 unsuccessful cases, including 4 professor candidates and 13 associate professor candidates, the sector with the largest number of candidates failing to pass the review round of the Industry and Interdisciplinary Professor Council.

Next is the information technology industry, interdisciplinary electricity - electronics - automation, earth science - mining, each with 10 unqualified candidates.

There are 6 councils with 100% of candidates passing the review round of the Faculty Council of the industry and interdisciplinary fields, including: transportation, metallurgy, history - archaeology - ethnology/anthropology, psychology, irrigation and literature.

This year, the field with the most candidates is economics (136 candidates, including 7 professor candidates); followed by medicine (14 professor candidates, 103 associate professor candidates). This year, the literature field has only one associate professor candidate, Le Thi Thanh Tam, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Some other majors with few candidates are: metallurgy (1 professor candidate, 2 associate professor candidates); interdisciplinary history - archaeology - ethnology/anthropology (6 associate professor candidates); irrigation (7 associate professor candidates).
