On the evening of July 28, Thanh Chuong town held a ceremony to celebrate its 40th anniversary, receive the Government 's Excellent Emulation Flag and announce the decision to achieve civilized urban standards. Comrade Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council attended and awarded the Emulation Flag.

Thanh Chuong town was established on October 27, 1984, on the basis of separating part of the area and population of 3 communes: Dong Van, Thanh Dong, Thanh Ngoc.

In the early days of its establishment, the town was small in size, with only over 280 natural hectares and a population of over 5,000 people. In 2011, Thanh Chuong Town continued to be adjusted and expanded with a total natural area of 6.54 km2 on the basis of merging a part of the area and population of Thanh Ngoc and Dong Van communes, in Resolution No. 96/NQ-CP, dated October 11, 2011 of the Government.

After 40 years of construction and development, the Town's appearance has changed significantly. The economy has developed in a variety of industries and fields, of which industry, handicrafts, construction, services, and trade account for the majority of 96% and agriculture only accounts for 4%.

Average income per capita in 2023 will reach 95 million VND/person. The infrastructure system is invested synchronously. Culture - society , security - defense are taken care of by the Party Committee, the government and each citizen. In particular, the Party Committee, the Government and the People of the town have united, made efforts, joined hands and unanimously completed 52 contents of the 9 civilized urban criteria and were recognized by the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district as meeting civilized urban standards in 2024; and were awarded the Excellent Emulation Flag by the Prime Minister in 2023.

The town is currently striving to achieve type IV urban status according to the Nghe An Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, and at the same time, creating even development between regions after merging Thanh Linh and Thanh Dong communes into the upcoming town.

Therefore, the task for the town after the merger is to do a good job of planning with a long-term vision, fundamental and highly feasible, associated with attracting investment in production projects, urban areas; promoting the development of trade - services, clean agriculture, high technology, commodity production...; Associated with economic growth is taking care of cultural - social development, ensuring national defense - security; Pay attention to building a strong Party and political system to meet the requirements of performing tasks in the new period, bringing the town to further development in the coming time.
