Weather on May 1: Thunderstorms continue in the North

(PLVN) - According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today, in the Northern region, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain in some places.

The Hydro-Meteorological Agency forecasts that on May 1, in the Northern and North Central regions, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain with rainfall of 10-40mm, and some places experiencing over 80mm.

Thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains may cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.

Regarding the weather at sea, the Hydro-Meteorological Agency said that currently, in the Central and Southern East Sea (including the waters of the Truong Sa archipelago), the waters from Binh Dinh to Ca Mau are having scattered showers and thunderstorms.

It is forecasted that during the day and night of May 1, the sea area from Binh Dinh to Ca Mau, the Central and Southern East Sea (including the Truong Sa archipelago) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. During the thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind of level 6-7.

All vessels operating in the above areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.
