Farmers in Tam An commune, Long Dat district take care of summer-autumn rice. |
This Summer-Autumn crop, Long Dat district is expected to plant more than 4,000 hectares of rice. At this time, farmers have completed land preparation to prepare for sowing according to the agricultural sector's schedule from May 1 to June 30. High-quality, disease-resistant rice varieties with short growing periods such as OM 6162, OM 5451, OM 4900, and Dui Bau... are prioritized for planting this crop.
Mr. Tran Van Dinh, Lang Dai commune, Long Dat district said that he had completed land preparation and planted 6 sao of Summer-Autumn crop about a month ago. “Usually, the Summer-Autumn crop has favorable weather, few pests, and less care than the Winter-Spring crop. Hopefully this year, people will have a bumper crop,” said Mr. Dinh.
Compared to this time last year, the weather and irrigation water supply are guaranteed for farmers to produce the Summer-Autumn crop. However, in the first days of the rainy season, the heavy rainfall has also made farmers worried. Mr. Dang Huu Duc, Tam An commune, said that it has been raining continuously for the past few days, and he is also a bit worried. Because of the heavy rain, while the newly sown rice has not yet taken root deeply, it is easy to fall, be damaged, and be washed away, forcing farmers to replant, increasing costs.
According to the plan, in the 2025 Summer-Autumn crop, the whole province is expected to plant more than 8,700 hectares of rice. For the main crop, farmers sowed when it rained and finished sowing on June 10, 2025. The Summer-Autumn rice crop in the province has been planted from 1-2 weeks to more than 1 month and is growing and developing well.
To ensure a successful Summer-Autumn crop, the agriculture and environment sector recommends that farmers clean their fields; apply advanced rice cultivation processes such as 3 reductions 3 increases, 1 must 5 reductions, spraying 4 correct methods, applying ecological technology, applying biological products to prevent brown planthoppers; limit spraying pesticides and planthoppers on rice fields less than 40 days after sowing to preserve natural enemies, avoiding pest outbreaks in the later stages... In addition, farmers need to closely monitor the hydrometeorological situation, and brown planthopper migration to flexibly produce the Summer-Autumn crop, ensuring convenience and efficiency.
