Nguyen Gia Khiem, a student of class 12A7, My Tho High School ( Ninh Binh ) is one of the two valedictorians of the school in the 2025 high school graduation exam. He achieved a total score of 28.75 in block A00 (Math 9, Physics 10, Chemistry 9.75).
Choose a school where tuition is not a burden to parents
Khiem’s father and mother both suffer from spinal degeneration and are in poor health, unable to do heavy work. Khiem’s family relies on a few acres of rice fields and his mother’s sewing work, which earns a few tens of thousands of dong per day, to cover living expenses and school expenses.

Talking to VietNamNet reporter, Khiem shyly shared: "Due to my family's difficult circumstances, my parents are sick, so when choosing a university, I registered at the Military Technical Academy because studying here does not cost tuition, food, reduces the burden on the family, and after graduating, I can be arranged a job."
Talking about choosing a military school, besides his family circumstances and love for his parents, Khiem said he also likes this environment because his father used to be in the army. He believes that the military environment will help him practice ethics, lifestyle, will, and discipline to improve himself. Above all, he has the opportunity to fulfill his father's unfinished dream 40 years ago.

Khiem shared: “My parents are the biggest motivation and encouragement for me to try hard to study and achieve the results I have today. My father previously took the exam to enter the Air Defense - Air Force Academy, but while waiting for the exam results, the local authorities called him to join the army, so he still could not study at a military university as he wished. Now I will try to fulfill my father's dream.”
On his gaunt face, Mr. Nguyen Huu Long (born in 1967, Khiem's father) expressed his joy and pride when talking about his son: "Although my family is not well off, we are determined not to let our children drop out of school. My eldest son studies at a construction school and is currently working in Phu Ly. As for Khiem, we always encourage him to try his best to study well, his parents will take care of everything."

According to Mr. Long, the doctors ordered him to have spinal surgery, but because he was raising his children and still owed money for his wife's surgery, he temporarily put his own treatment on hold.
Predict your own score
Sharing his study secrets, Khiem said that in class, when teachers lecture, he listens attentively and studies the theory carefully. At night, when he gets home, he reviews the knowledge he has learned and does the types of exercises the teachers give him, and searches for more exercises online.
Khiem also said that, besides studying in class, he does not go to extra classes outside.

“After the exam, I predicted that I would get 28.75 points and when I checked the results, I was not surprised to get the exact score,” Khiem shared.
Mr. Ha Van Hai, Principal of My Tho High School (Ninh Binh) said that Khiem is a student with a spirit of striving to excel in his studies despite his family's difficult circumstances. He was also one of the school's two valedictorians in the recent exam.
According to Mr. Hai, Khiem is very sociable with his friends. In terms of academic achievements, Khiem was an excellent student in grade 10 and an excellent student in grades 11 and 12. When he was in grade 11, Khiem won third prize in the province's Math competition (formerly Nam Dinh), and in grade 12, he won second prize in the province's Physics competition.
