Nguyen Gia Khiem, a student in class 12A7 at My Tho High School ( Ninh Binh province ), is one of the two valedictorians of the school in the 2025 high school graduation exam. He achieved a total score of 28.75 in the A00 subject group (Mathematics 9, Physics 10, Chemistry 9.75).
Choose a school where tuition fees are not a burden for parents.
Khiem's parents both suffer from spinal degeneration, are in poor health, and cannot do strenuous work. The entire family relies on a few acres of rice paddies and his mother's sewing work, earning a few tens of thousands of dong a day, to cover their living expenses and school costs.

Speaking to a VietNamNet reporter, Khiem shyly shared: “Due to my family's difficult circumstances and my parents' illnesses, when choosing a university, I applied to the Military Technical Academy because studying there doesn't cost tuition or living expenses, easing the burden on my family, and after graduation, I might be able to find a job.”
Speaking about his choice of military school, besides family circumstances and love for his parents, Khiem said he also liked the environment because his father had served in the military. He believes that the military environment will help him cultivate morality, lifestyle, willpower, and discipline to improve himself. Above all, he has the opportunity to fulfill his father's unfinished dream from 40 years ago.

Khiem shared: “My parents are the greatest motivation and encouragement for me to study hard and achieve the results I have today. My father previously applied to the Air Defense - Air Force Academy, but while waiting for the exam results, the local authorities called him up for military service, so he didn't get to study at a military university as he wished. Now I will try my best to fulfill my father's dream.”
With a gaunt face, Mr. Nguyen Huu Long (born in 1967, Khiem's father) expressed joy and pride when talking about his son: "Although our family isn't well-off, we were determined not to let our children drop out of school. My eldest son studied at a construction school and is currently working in Phu Ly. As for Khiem, we always encourage him to study hard and say that his parents will take care of everything."

According to Mr. Long, doctors recommended spinal surgery, but because he has children to support and educate, and still owes money from a loan taken out for his wife's surgery, he has temporarily postponed treatment for himself.
Predict your own score.
Sharing his study secrets, Khiem said that in class, he pays close attention and studies the theory carefully while the teachers are lecturing. In the evening, he reviews the learned material and works on the types of problems assigned by the teachers, and also searches for additional practice problems online.
Khiem also said that, besides studying in class, he doesn't attend any extra classes outside of school.

"After the exam, I predicted I would get 28.75 points, and when I checked the results, I wasn't surprised to get exactly that score," Khiem shared.
Mr. Ha Van Hai, Principal of My Tho High School (Ninh Binh), said that Khiem is a student who strives to excel in his studies despite his difficult family circumstances. He was also one of the two valedictorians of the school in the recent exam.
According to Mr. Hai, Khiem was very sociable with his friends. Regarding academic achievements, Khiem was an all-around excellent student in 10th grade and an outstanding student in 11th and 12th grades. In 11th grade, Khiem won third prize in Mathematics at the provincial level (formerly Nam Dinh province ), and in 12th grade, he won second prize in Physics at the provincial level.
