More than 200 voters representing businesses, workers and laborers in Can Tho attended and expressed their opinions to the National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho city and the Prime Minister.
At the meeting with voters, the National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho City informed about the expected agenda of the 5th session of the 15th National Assembly; reported on the implementation of a number of policies and laws related to enterprises and workers in the past time; received and recorded voters' opinions and recommendations to synthesize and report to competent authorities for settlement according to regulations.
Voters in Can Tho city are happy and trust the direction and management of socio -economic development of the Party, the National Assembly and the Government. In difficult conditions, the Government and the Prime Minister have closely directed and removed many obstacles. Thanks to that, the socio-economic situation has recovered quickly and developed quite well; people's lives have been improved; the work of preventing and combating negativity and corruption has been focused. Voters highly appreciate the Prime Minister and the National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho city for performing well their roles and tasks, resolving many opinions and recommendations of voters within their authority.
Voters also expressed their opinions and made recommendations on a number of issues related to business development, job creation, maintaining sustainable employment, improving workers' income and living standards; solutions for housing development and social security; and reflected on inadequacies and difficulties in law enforcement related to the rights and interests of businesses and workers.
The Prime Minister and representatives of leaders of ministries, branches, agencies, and Can Tho city explained and accepted voters' opinions and recommendations under their jurisdiction. These were opinions on regional minimum wages; on housing policies, or cheap rental or purchase of boarding houses for workers; supporting businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to access, expand and seek markets; protecting workers' rights when amending the Law on Social Insurance; building cultural institutions for workers and laborers; solutions to prevent and combat "black credit" and fraud in cyberspace...
Speaking at the conference, reviewing the results of the implementation of the contents of the 4th Session and the preparation work and contents of the 5th Session of the 15th National Assembly, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also informed voters of Can Tho city about the country's socio-economic development situation.
The Prime Minister said that in recent times, despite many difficulties and challenges due to the world situation, the pandemic and internal economic problems, thanks to the drastic participation of the entire political system, the business community and the people of the whole country, under the leadership of the Party, our country has continued to achieve the general goal of stabilizing the macro economy, controlling inflation, promoting growth, ensuring major balances of the economy. People's lives have been stable, social order and safety have been ensured, national defense and security have been consolidated, foreign affairs and international integration have been promoted.
The socio-economic situation in April 2023 continued to trend positively, with some areas improving compared to March and the first 3 months of the year. The consumer price index (CPI) in April decreased by 0.34% compared to the previous month. The monetary market and exchange rate were basically stable; operating interest rates continued to decrease; the average lending interest rate decreased by 0.67% compared to the end of 2022. State budget revenue in the first 4 months is estimated at 39% of the estimate. State budget investment capital in April reached 39.3 trillion VND, up 16.4%, and public investment disbursement in the first 4 months reached over 110.6 trillion VND, up 16% over the same period.
Newly registered FDI capital in the first 4 months increased by 65.2% in the number of projects and 11% in registered capital; April's trade surplus was estimated at 1.51 billion USD, and in the first 4 months, it was 6.35 billion USD. The index of industrial production (IIP) increased again, in April it increased by 3.6% compared to March and by 0.5% compared to the same period. The service sector continued to recover; tourism recovered quickly, with 3.7 million international visitors to Vietnam, an increase of 19.2 times compared to the same period...
Social security and improving people's lives continue to receive attention. The work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity has been promoted and achieved many positive results. National defense, security, and territorial sovereignty have been maintained; social order and safety have been ensured; traffic accidents have decreased in all three criteria. Foreign affairs and integration have been promoted, and the country's prestige and position have continued to be raised...
International organizations have positively assessed Vietnam’s socio-economic recovery and development and have optimistic forecasts for the coming time. Vietnam is a bright spot in the economic growth of the ASEAN region and ASEAN is a bright spot in the world’s growth.
The Prime Minister also frankly pointed out difficulties and limitations such as declining GDP growth; shrinking major export markets; potentially risky financial markets; low disbursement of public investment capital. The rate of enterprises leaving the market is increasing; the bond and real estate markets continue to face difficulties; the production, business, labor and employment situation of people and enterprises has not improved. In addition, there is also the phenomenon of officials being afraid of responsibility; administrative procedures, decentralization and delegation of power are not as desired...
“These are issues that the Government will strive to focus on handling and overcoming in the coming time; difficulties must be resolved, challenges must be overcome,” the Prime Minister pointed out.
In the coming time, the Government will continue to adhere to the goal of stabilizing the macro economy, controlling inflation, ensuring major balances; stabilizing politics, social order and safety; promoting integration; overcoming the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic; recovering quickly and developing sustainably; boosting production and business, creating jobs and livelihoods for people; finding markets, diversifying products and supply chains; removing difficulties for businesses with many tools such as reducing, extending, exempting taxes, fees, charges, extending tax payment deadlines, along with paying attention to balancing the inflation situation.
“Implement a monetary policy that is firm, proactive, timely, flexible, and effective; and an expansionary, focused, flexible, and effective fiscal policy,” said the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Government will direct the removal of institutional obstacles, strengthen administrative procedure reform, decentralization and delegation of power; apply digital technology, build a digital government, digital society, digital citizens, promote the application of Project 06 to strengthen population management; promote 3 strategic breakthroughs: reform, institutional improvement, human resource training and infrastructure development. The Government focuses on 3 growth drivers: consumption, export and investment; ensure social security, including housing and cultural institutions for workers; ensure independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. At the same time, promote planning work, including provincial and sectoral planning; strengthen international cooperation, including economic diplomacy; build a streamlined, effective and efficient apparatus; a team of cadres with sufficient capacity, qualities and prestige; promote the prevention and fight against corruption and negativity.
Protect those who do the right thing, punish those who do the wrong thing to set an example to protect those who do the right thing; protect those who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility; protect those who work with pure motives, not for personal gain but for the collective interest, the national interest, the people's interest, the Prime Minister emphasized.
Regarding the opinions and recommendations of voters at the conference, the Prime Minister said that these are all very current and practical issues. Leaders of ministries, branches and cities have responded quite satisfactorily. The Prime Minister shared the thoughts, opinions and recommendations of voters of Can Tho city; requested relevant levels and branches to continue to synthesize, explain, absorb and resolve proposals and recommendations within their authority and thoroughly. The National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho city synthesizes and submits to relevant agencies issues that exceed and are not within their authority to resolve.
The Prime Minister affirmed that as a National Assembly delegate of Can Tho city, the Prime Minister always strives to fulfill his responsibilities; always stays close to and listens to the opinions and aspirations of comrades, compatriots, voters, and leaders of the Can Tho Party Committee; tries his best to contribute to the development and prosperity of Can Tho in particular and the whole country in general.
