Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived in San Francisco, beginning a working trip to the US that will last until September 23.
The plane carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh landed in San Francisco on the afternoon of September 17 (morning of September 18, Hanoi time) after a 13-hour flight. Accompanying the Prime Minister were the Ministers of Public Security, Foreign Affairs , Planning and Investment, Industry and Trade, Finance, Culture, Sports and Tourism, Information and Communications, Health, and Natural Resources and Environment.
Representatives of the San Francisco city government, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung, Vietnamese Consulate General in San Francisco Hoang Anh Tuan and a number of Consulate General officials welcomed the Prime Minister at the airport.

The Prime Minister's six-day visit to the US will take him to three cities, San Francisco, Washington and New York, to attend the United Nations General Assembly and conduct bilateral activities.
In San Francisco, the Prime Minister will meet with overseas Vietnamese and attend the Vietnam-US Business Forum on cooperation in technology and innovation. The Vietnamese government leader is expected to visit San Francisco State University, the semiconductor chip manufacturing company NVIDIA, and receive a number of political delegations.
In Washington, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will speak at Georgetown University, meet with several US congressional leaders, and receive the US Secretary of Commerce and Trade Representative.
In New York, the Prime Minister will receive the US Treasury Secretary and is expected to speak at the Climate Ambition Summit and the High-Level Conference on Preparedness, Response and Prevention.
The Prime Minister will meet the President of the United Nations General Assembly; deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly's High-Level General Debate; ring the NASDAQ Stock Exchange bell; meet with leaders of major corporations such as Microsoft and Boeing; and have bilateral activities.

Vietnam-US relations have made profound developments in all bilateral, regional and international fields. The two sides upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during President Joe Biden's visit to Vietnam on September 10-11.
The high-level General Debate of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly will have the theme "Rebuilding trust and promoting global solidarity: Scaling up action on the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all".
