Speaking at the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that it is necessary to pay special attention to and further promote the comprehensive work of Party building and rectification. This is not only the task of Party committees and organizations, but also requires the active and drastic participation of the entire political system, of all classes of people and press and propaganda agencies; continue to promote the spirit and aspirations of Vietnam to build our country to be more and more dignified and beautiful, as beloved Uncle Ho always wished.

In the atmosphere of celebrating the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2024), celebrating the glorious Party, celebrating the country's renewal and development, and celebrating the upcoming Giap Thin Spring, on the evening of February 1, the announcement and awarding ceremony of the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award (2023) - the national press award on Party building was held at the Hanoi Friendship Labor Cultural Palace. Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended, spoke at the ceremony and awarded the highest-winning authors.

After 8 seasons, the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award has increasingly demonstrated its prestige, attracting a large number of authors and groups of authors to participate. With 2,216 works, 2023 is the year with the largest number of works participating in the Award. The works entering the final round have made very encouraging progress, ensuring quality in content, harmonizing genres, types, regions and covering all provinces and cities in the country. From 120 works selected by the Preliminary Council, the Final Council reviewed and selected outstanding works to award 6 A prizes, 12 B prizes, 18 C prizes, 30 Encouragement prizes, and 6 Special Prizes.

Welcoming the success of the Award, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that, looking back at 2023 and more than half of the 13th National Party Congress, despite facing many unprecedented difficulties and challenges in the domestic and international context; but under the leadership of the Party, often and directly by the Politburo, the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, with high will, determination, great efforts, drastic actions and the spirit of "First support, then support", "One call, all respond", "Unanimity above and below", "Consistency across the board", our entire Party, people and army have upheld the spirit of solidarity, joint efforts, unanimity, joint action, innovation and creativity. Our country has achieved important achievements in all fields with many outstanding marks, recognized by the people and highly appreciated by the international community.

In 2023, the macro economy will be basically stable, inflation will be controlled; economic growth will be among the highest in the world; culture and society will be focused on, social security will be ensured; politics and society will be stable, national defense and security will be maintained; foreign affairs and international integration will be comprehensively successful, with historical marks. The fight against corruption and negativity, the fight against manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party will be further promoted. The work of Party building and rectification, building the political system, and building a contingent of cadres will be increasingly experienced; positive changes will be created, especially the close, harmonious, and effective combination of "building" and "fighting". The leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations and Party members will be increasingly improved, contributing to consolidating and strengthening people's trust in the Party and the State.

The achievements of 2023 and the past half-term of the 13th National Party Congress have contributed to the important and historic achievements in nearly 40 years of renovation and in the revolutionary cause of our Party, our people, and our nation over the past nearly 95 years, under the glorious flag of the Party.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the rich and vivid reality and good results of the cause of national construction and protection; of the work of Party building and rectification; and the consensus and trust of the people are valuable sources of material and unlimited inspiration for creating high-quality journalistic works.

Through 8 times of organization, the National Press Award on Party building named "Golden Hammer and Sickle" has affirmed its value, attractiveness, and influence on the work of Party building, political system building, and staff building; at the same time, it affirms the profound political awareness, professional ethics, and steadfast revolutionary heart of journalists nationwide, worthy of Uncle Ho's teaching: "Press cadres are also revolutionary soldiers".

The Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the 8th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award have directed the organization to be tight, methodical, scientific and professional under the direction of Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organizing Committee. Party committees at all levels, ministries, branches and localities have proactively and actively participated and considered participating in the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award as one of the important tasks, at the same time creating a vibrant atmosphere and attracting the attention of all classes of people to the work of Party building, building the contingent of cadres and building the political system. The works participating in the award adhered closely to the policies and viewpoints on Party building work, vividly reflecting political activities in the Party; especially urgent emerging issues such as building culture and ethics in the Party, fighting against "fear of responsibility and fear of mistakes", while encouraging and protecting dynamic, creative cadres who dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility for the common good; fighting against corruption and negativity; refuting wrong and distorted viewpoints, protecting the Party's ideological foundation... In addition, the works also proposed solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles, encouraging spirit, arousing aspirations for rapid and sustainable national development.

The 72 excellent works selected by the Organizing Committee for awards today are excellent representatives of 2,216 works that converge, crystallize the passion, intelligence, courage and demonstrate the exploration, creative work with sharp political thinking, professional conscience and social responsibility, with the noble love for the homeland and country of journalists.

According to the Prime Minister, our country enters 2024, one of the decisive years in successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, with new opportunities and new fortunes, but also facing many new difficulties and challenges.

“In such a context, the proud 94-year history of our Party shows that we must pay special attention to and further promote the work of comprehensive Party building and rectification in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization and cadres. In particular, we must thoroughly grasp, deepen and seriously implement the important instructions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in the article 'Proud and confident under the glorious flag of the Party, determined to build an increasingly prosperous, civilized, cultured and heroic Vietnam' on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam. This is not only the task of Party committees and organizations, but also requires the active and drastic participation of the entire political system, of all classes of people and press and propaganda agencies," the Prime Minister said.

Further increase articles on advanced models, good people, good deeds, exemplary individuals; new models, good and creative ways of doing things; fight to prevent and repel degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation"; prevent and combat corruption, negativity, waste; fight and refute distorted arguments and wrong viewpoints of hostile forces and reactionary organizations; firmly protect the Party's ideological foundation; further enhance the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations and Party members.

The Head of Government stated that, through 8 times of organization, the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award has affirmed its prestige and position in the national press award system, received deep attention and leadership from Party committees at all levels, attracted the participation of many classes of people, and has truly become an event that is awaited and expected before the annual anniversary of the Party's founding, and this is an affirmation of the brand, prestige and influence of the Award.
