With this impressive achievement, the 6th part of the "Final Destination" franchise not only marks a spectacular return after 14 years since "Final Destination 5" (released in 2011), but also affirms the enduring appeal of one of the most popular horror film series of all time.
This impressive comeback not only excites horror film fans but also shows the enduring vitality of a 25-year-old brand.
Not only did it create a real fever at 3,523 theaters in North America last week, “Final Destination: Bloodlines” also earned an additional 51 million USD from the international market, bringing the total global revenue to 102 million USD in its first week of release.
Compared to “Final Destination 5” which opened with only $18 million, this number is proof of the brand’s explosion after more than a decade of absence.
“Final Destination: Bloodlines” continues to exploit the primal fear of death, revolving around the story of Kaitlyn Santa Juana - a female college student who unexpectedly inherits the ability to foresee disasters from her late grandmother.
Tragedy strikes when she discovers that her grandmother tried to escape death, and now her entire family must suffer the terrible consequences.
The film was "molded" by the hands of two directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, bringing a tense, creepy atmosphere typical of the "Final Destination" brand.
The combination of elaborately staged, surprising "accidents" and supernatural elements has created a spiritual "dish" that cannot be missed by horror movie lovers.
The success of “Final Destination: Bloodlines” comes not only from an engaging script but also thanks to a smart promotional strategy.
Images of logs piled high on a truck, reminiscent of one of the series' most horrifying scenes, have gone viral on social media, sparking curiosity and excitement among viewers.
In addition, the film also received a "shower" of praise from critics, achieving a 93% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a B+ score from audiences on CinemaScore.
The win for “Final Destination: Bloodlines” is not only a huge boost for Warner Bros. after recent commercial failures like “Mickey 17,” “The Alto Knights” and “Joker: Folie a Deux,” but it also continues the studio’s impressive streak of box office hits like “Sinners” and “A Minecraft Movie.”
All three films made it into the top five this week, showing Warner Bros.' strong resurgence in the box office.
Meanwhile, Disney’s superhero film “Thunderbolts,” starring Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan, dropped to second place with $16.5 million in its third weekend, but still proved to be a steady draw as its global total surpassed an impressive $325 million.
"Sinners" - the horror film starring Michael B. Jordan in the lead role, continued to hold the third position with 15.4 million USD, bringing the global total revenue to 316.8 million USD.
“A Minecraft Movie” - another Warner Bros. production starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa - came in fourth with $5.9 million, bringing its global total to a whopping $928.6 million after seven weeks in release.
Fifth place went to Amazon MGM Studios' “The Accountant 2,” which grossed nearly $5 million.
