On the morning of May 5, the organizing committee of the United Nations Vesak 2025 held a ceremony to raise a 500m² Buddhist flag on the campus of the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City - Campus II.

The flag is 25.69m long and 19.47m wide. The 25.69m length symbolizes the 2,569 years of Buddhist history.

The five colors of the flag also symbolize the unity of the five continents, expressing the desire for world peace , and also the desire of Buddhism to spread compassion, in accordance with the spirit of this year's Vesak theme: "Solidarity and tolerance for human dignity: Buddhist wisdom for world peace and sustainable development" .

Attending the flag-raising ceremony were monks, nuns, Buddhists and local people. After the flag was raised, local people released 500 balloons to celebrate the event.
