On the morning of April 29, some speedboats taking tourists from Ao Tien International Port (Van Don District) to Quan Lan Island were unable to dock at Quan Lan Port due to shallow water. Tourists had to stay on the boat in the hot weather and were forced to adjust their plans for the island.

Meanwhile, many tourists who had planned to return to shore had to wait for the tide. Some groups had checked out and gone to the port to wait for the boat, but had to return to their hotels because of the hot weather.

Talking to PV Dai Doan Ket, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quan Lan Commune (Van Don District), said: The general situation on Quan Lan Island for many years now, when the tide is low to 0.3, it will affect the waterway. This morning, upon receiving the report, the commune directed the ships and support forces to handle the situation by mobilizing small boats to increase the boat and bring tourists to the island.

Mr. Tuyen added that this morning, there were only 2 ships with more than 100 passengers on board that had to wait for the boat to take them to the island. By the end of the morning, these passengers had reached the island. There was no story of thousands of passengers drifting at sea as reported on social media. On the island these days, there are usually more than 2,000 passengers, not all of whom left the island to return to the mainland today (April 29).

Regarding a long-term solution, the People's Committee of the commune has reported to the competent authorities to have a plan to dredge the channel to ensure boats can enter and exit Quan Lan.

In recent years, Quan Lan island commune (Van Don district) has become well-known to people across the country thanks to its scenic spots, resorts, and sea activities.
