On the morning of November 14, at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, the Ministry of Education and Training held a seminar on "Incorporating gender and gender equality content into the training program for college and university teachers - Implementing the National Strategy on gender equality in the field of education and training for the period 2021 - 2030".
The seminar is within the framework of implementing Plan No. 1586/KH-BGDDT on implementing the project "Including teaching gender and gender equality content into the training program for college-level teachers in Preschool Education and university level in the period 2024 - 2030".
The event was chaired by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy - Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education; Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Son - Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and Dr. Sai Cong Hong - Director of the Institute of Testing and Educational Quality Assessment.
The three main objectives of the seminar include: sharing domestic and international experiences on integrating gender equality; discussing the roadmap and methods of implementing the project at training institutions; proposing solutions to improve lecturer capacity, innovate programs and spread the value of equality.

In the context of Vietnam implementing the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the 2021 - 2030 period according to Resolution 28/NQ-CP, education is identified as one of six key areas.
The project of the Ministry of Education and Training sets the goal that by 2025-2026, all teacher training institutions will include gender and gender equality content in the official curriculum with standardized teaching staff, materials and teaching methods.
Speaking at the event, Professor Huynh Van Son emphasized the role of teachers in shaping social values.
Mr. Son said that Ho Chi Minh City University of Education has many initiatives in building a matrix of requirements and integrating gender and gender equality content into the training program. The school will continue to research and perfect effective implementation models, and is ready to share experiences with domestic and foreign units.

"Teachers are the core force in shaping social values. Therefore, equipping students of teacher training majors, as well as non-pedagogical majors, with knowledge and skills on gender equality is to create a future generation of citizens who know how to respect, tolerate and be fair," said Professor Son.
At the seminar, delegates focused on listening to and discussing key reports such as Gender Equality in the General Education Program: Proposing methods to integrate sex education content when organizing and implementing the 2018 general education program; Bringing gender and gender equality content into teacher training programs - experience and orientation,...
The final in-depth discussion session focused on three issues: the roadmap for integrating gender equality content into teacher training programs; minimum competency standards for lecturers; and the mechanism for monitoring and supervising implementation.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the results of the discussion are an important basis for unifying actions at the national level, ensuring that the inclusion of gender and gender equality content in teacher training is implemented synchronously, substantially and effectively.
This is an important step forward in realizing the goals of the National Strategy on Gender Equality and promoting the development of educational human resources with progressive thinking, respect and tolerance.
