Journalist Phung Cong Suong said: "For nearly 10 years, Tien Phong newspaper has mainly organized professional tournaments such as the National Golf Championship, Tien Phong Golf Championship - For young Vietnamese talents. However, the need for a large-scale grassroots playground is very high, especially in Ho Chi Minh City - where the golf movement is developing strongly.
"We want to create a playground that does not discriminate by class, not only for professional athletes but also for all passionate golfers to connect the golf community nationwide, while multiplying the beautiful values of sports : Solidarity - Exchange - Sharing" - journalist Phung Cong Suong emphasized.
According to the Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong newspaper , organizing this golf tournament in Ho Chi Minh City - the most dynamic city in the country - also shows the vision of expanding the scope of Tien Phong newspaper 's sports activities from North to South.

Great significance beyond the framework of sports
Not just a simple sports tournament, Tien Phong Golf Championship - A strip of mountains and rivers carries messages rich in social and humanistic values.
Journalist Phung Cong Suong stated: " Firstly, we hope the tournament will become an opportunity to connect, exchange, and strengthen solidarity among golfers from all over the world - from North to South.
Second, the tournament was held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), so it also has historical significance,educating the tradition of patriotism and national pride for today's generation.
And more special, the tournament is an opportunity to raise funds to support Saigon Special Forces veterans - those who have sacrificed their blood and bones for the cause of national liberation but still face many difficulties in life.
According to journalist Phung Cong Suong, the funds from the prize will be used to support house building, renovate accommodation and take care of the lives of Saigon Special Forces veterans, demonstrating the Vietnamese people's "When drinking water, remember its source" philosophy.
Tournament size: Record number and prize structure
Sharing about the scale of the tournament, journalist Phung Cong Suong said: "We were very surprised by the strong response from the golfer community. In just a short time, 234 golfers registered to participate. This is a record number for a grassroots golf tournament organized by Tien Phong newspaper so far.
The tournament was held at two full 18-hole golf courses at Tan Son Nhat – one of the largest golf courses in Ho Chi Minh City. Golfers were divided into 5 groups (A, B, C, Female and Guest) to ensure competition and fair prize-winning opportunities for all participating athletes.
Regarding the prize structure, Head of the Organizing Committee Phung Cong Suong said: "The total prize value is up to 8 billion VND, including both physical and cash prizes. Of which, there are 8 Hole-in-One prizes at 8 par 3 holes, with valuable prizes such as luxury cars, high-end resort vouchers, branded watches... Such an attractive prize structure is not only to show gratitude to the participants, but also to create more motivation for golfers to compete with all their might, contributing to making a real sports festival".
Expectations to build annual events with social impact
Not only stopping at this year's tournament, Tien Phong newspaper and the Organizing Committee also have a long-term vision. Journalist Phung Cong Suong shared: "We expect Tien Phong Golf Championship - Non song mot doi to become an annual event, held on the occasion of the anniversary of April 30 every year.
