We received a pig-tailed macaque, a rare and endangered species, from a local resident.

On October 27th, the police in Truong Son commune, Quang Tri province, announced that they had received a pig-tailed macaque, classified as a Group IIB endangered and rare forest animal, from a local resident.

Specifically, on the morning of the same day, while authorities including forest rangers, police, and border guards were conducting awareness campaigns to encourage people to protect wildlife in the villages, Mr. Ho Van Duong (born in 1957), from Rin Rin village, Truong Son commune, contacted them and voluntarily handed over a pig-tailed macaque belonging to group IIB, weighing 2 kg. According to Mr. Duong, he found the macaque injured while working in his field and brought it home to raise.

Immediately after receiving the items, the authorities verified them, completed the necessary legal procedures, and prepared to hand them over to the Wildlife Rescue, Conservation and Development Center of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park...

According to the Truong Son Commune Police, in recent times, through propaganda and mobilization efforts, many people in the commune have voluntarily surrendered wild animals such as rare hornbills and red-faced monkeys. The unit has also coordinated with relevant authorities to release them back into their natural environment.
