Body of woman swept away by floodwaters found in Quang Tri

On the afternoon of November 5, Mr. Nguyen Van Dat, Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Hiep Commune, Quang Tri Province, said that the authorities found the body of a woman who was swept away by floodwaters while crossing an overflowing culvert in the rain and floods after 3 days of searching.

The body of Ms. HTV (born in 1993, residing in Gia Gia village, Huong Hiep commune) was discovered at 12:30 on November 5, at the source of Hieu River in Hieu Giang commune, 15 km from the accident site. Local authorities and functional forces have carried out legal procedures to hand over the victim's body to her family for burial according to local customs.

Representatives of the People's Committee of Huong Hiep commune visited, encouraged, and supported 5 million VND for the victim's family. It is known that Ms. HTV's family situation is very difficult with 3 small children and her husband has no stable job.

Previously, at around 4:30 p.m. on November 2, Ms. HTV was returning from work on the farm when she passed a flooded spillway. Despite warnings and propaganda from the authorities about not moving through the spillway when the water was flooding, because she wanted to go home, Ms. HTV and another person decided to cross the spillway. Unfortunately, heavy rain caused the water to rise high and flow rapidly, and the flood swept Ms. HTV away. The remaining person was lucky to get to shore.
