The religious situation in the two communes of An Bien and Thanh Dong is stable.

On November 6, a working delegation led by Nguyen Huu Thinh, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of An Giang Provincial Party Committee, worked with An Bien and Thanh Dong communes on ethnic and religious work in 2025.

An Bien commune has 12,914 households, of which 2,102 are ethnic minorities, accounting for 16.27%. The whole commune has 80 poor households, accounting for 0.61%, of which 30 are ethnic minority poor households, accounting for 37.5%.

In the commune, there are 4 main religions: Buddhism, Cao Dai, Protestantism and Catholicism; there are 9 religious establishments and 3 concentrated activity points, with 109 dignitaries and 7,879 followers.

Religious organizations, dignitaries and followers actively participate in social and charitable activities, such as: Every year, distributing more than 60,000 free medicines; giving 200 gifts, 9.5 tons of rice to poor households; building traffic bridges, installing street lights...

In addition, each year, religious organizations support more than 1 billion VND for social security work and campaigns.

At the working session, the Party Committee, People's Committee, sectors and unions of An Bien commune had 11 opinions, proposals and recommendations to the survey team.

On the same afternoon, the delegation had a working session with Thanh Dong commune on the same survey content. There are 12,774 households in the area, of which ethnic minorities account for 4.33%. The commune currently has 20,557 Catholics, 2,987 Buddhists, 1,685 Cao Dai followers, 115 Protestants and 124 Hoa Hao Buddhists...

Speaking at the survey sessions, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Huu Thinh proposed strengthening State management of beliefs and religions in the area; reviewing land use procedures and guiding qualified establishments to carry out procedures to convert land use purposes to religious land and register for land use right certificates for religious establishments according to regulations.

Localities need to proactively and regularly grasp the local situation, promptly detect and resolve arising problems right at the grassroots level; speed up the disbursement of capital for the national target program on socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas...
