Seminar "Promoting gender equality in career guidance, vocational training, employment and entrepreneurship"

On the morning of November 7, in Lao Cai ward, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union coordinated with Aide et Action (AEA - France) to organize a discussion on gender equality in career guidance, vocational training, employment and entrepreneurship. This is one of the activities under the project "Promoting career and business development for youth and women" in 2025 in Lao Cai province sponsored by Aide et Action.

The seminar was attended by representatives of the Department of Education and Training of the province, the Women's Union of Lao Cai and Phu Tho provinces, the Women's Entrepreneurs Council (VCCI), gender experts and representatives from 16 communes and wards in the project area of Lao Cai province; high schools, vocational education and continuing education centers, start-up models, start-up clubs of Lao Cai and Phu Tho.

At the program, AEA representatives presented a summary report on gender mainstreaming activities within the project framework and the results achieved. After more than two years of implementation, the project has recorded many positive achievements: more than 44 schools and 25,000 students in Lao Cai and Phu Tho participated in the pilot gender mainstreaming in career guidance activities; more than 600 young people and women were trained in labor skills and business start-up; more than 10,000 women and young people participated in job fairs; 28 start-up models were supported with capital with a total budget of over 1 billion VND.

AEA representative presented a report on the project's gender mainstreaming activities.

Representatives of departments, branches, international organizations, vocational training institutions, youth and women participating in the model shared many practical experiences in implementing gender mainstreaming activities; difficulties, challenges and solutions to improve the effectiveness of career access and entrepreneurship for women and youth in the project area.

Delegates shared about policies and the current status of gender equality in the fields of employment and entrepreneurship.

Delegates contributed ideas on integrating gender equality in vocational education.

Through the discussion, delegates agreed on the importance of gender mainstreaming in socio -economic development programs; at the same time, made recommendations to replicate effective models, contributing to enhancing the role and position of women and youth in local economic development.
