Accidents mainly occur in rivers, streams, and lakes, where many children do not know how to swim or lack adult supervision when playing in the water.
Worryingly, the rate of drowning in children is still increasing during the hot season when students are on summer vacation. In addition, some localities still lack warning signs and barriers in dangerous areas; propaganda andeducation on drowning prevention skills for students and parents are not really effective.
Faced with this situation, functional sectors and local authorities are strengthening measures to prevent and combat drowning for children, such as: organizing free swimming lessons, training in water safety skills, propaganda on mass media and social networks; at the same time, calling for active participation from families, schools and the whole society in protecting children from the risk of drowning accidents.
