FULL TEXT OF COMRADE TRAN THANH MAN'S INAUGURATIONAL SPEECH AS CHAIRMAN OF THE XV NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

On the afternoon of May 20, after the oath-taking ceremony, comrade Tran Thanh Man delivered a speech as Chairman of the 15th National Assembly. Nhan Dan Newspaper respectfully introduces the full text of the speech.

Dear leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front ,

Dear Members of Parliament ,

Dear compatriots, comrades, armed forces soldiers and voters nationwide,

First of all, I would like to sincerely thank the delegates of the 15th National Assembly for their trust in electing me to hold the position of Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. This is a great honor and at the same time a great responsibility for me before the Party, the State and the people.

Immediately after announcing the voting results, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man performed the oath of office ceremony.

At this solemn moment, I would like to express my respect and infinite gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh; I would like to express my gratitude to the senior leaders, revolutionary veterans, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the Armed Forces, Heroes of Labor; families of martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, and families with meritorious services to the country.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the correct and close leadership and direction of the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; I sincerely thank the National Assembly delegates, compatriots, voters nationwide and our compatriots abroad; countries, organizations, individuals and international friends who have helped and shared so that our country Vietnam has never had the foundation, potential, position and international prestige like today.

Dear Congress,

I am always deeply aware that, no matter what position I hold, I must always adhere to the goals of national independence and socialism; creatively apply and develop Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought; adhere to the Party's innovation policy; ensure the highest national interests and the legitimate rights, interests and aspirations of the people.

Firmly grasp and seriously implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; be steadfast, consistent and uphold the Party's working principles and laws in the face of new difficulties and challenges of the country. Regularly cultivate, train and improve revolutionary ethics; seriously self-reflect, self-correct, self-criticize and criticize; be exemplary in ethics and lifestyle in work as well as in personal and family life.

Proud of the glorious Party, great Uncle Ho, heroic Vietnamese people; looking forward to the future development of the country, to meet the requirements and tasks in the new period, I am determined to make the greatest efforts and determination to join the entire Party, people and army to successfully achieve the goal of building a prosperous, civilized country, with a prosperous and happy people.

In performing the duties and powers stipulated in the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the duties entrusted to me by the Party, the State and the people, I pledge to devote all my efforts to serving the Fatherland and the people; together with the National Assembly, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the agencies of the National Assembly, the agencies under the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and the National Assembly deputies, continue to innovate, improve the quality and effectiveness of activities in terms of legislation, supreme supervision and decision-making on important issues of the country; continue to strengthen the National Assembly's foreign affairs together with the Party's foreign affairs, State diplomacy and people's diplomacy; promote democracy, solidarity, openness, transparency and professionalism, contributing to building a truly socialist rule-of-law state of the people, by the people and for the people.

I respectfully hope that the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, leaders and former leaders of the Party, the State, the Vietnam Fatherland Front; National Assembly deputies, agencies of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the President, the Government, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuracy, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, sectors, localities, agencies, units, voters and people nationwide, our compatriots abroad, intellectuals, international friends, and press agencies will continue to support, accompany, help, and create conditions for me to successfully complete my tasks.

I wish the leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, National Assembly deputies, compatriots, comrades, soldiers of the armed forces and voters nationwide good health, happiness and success.
