Tokyo residents were overjoyed after the Japanese capital was named the world's most beloved major city by a leading American travel magazine.
Conde Nast Traveler's 2024 reader survey, which excludes US cities, showed Tokyo garnered 575,048 votes to claim the top spot for the first time in three years.
This is the sixth time Tokyo has taken the top spot in the survey, which began in 1988. The island nation of Singapore came in second, followed by Sydney, Cape Town, and Vienna.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Department of Industry and Labor said it has attracted high-spending foreign tourists by focusing its promotional efforts on cuisine and culture, as well as nightlife, thanks to the city's good security.
Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike shared: "Tokyo is a city where visitors can experience a unique culture, with traditional shrines and temples coexisting alongside innovative anime and the latest popular culture in a rare charm that attracts the world. To me, this result reaffirms Tokyo's appeal, recognized by people all over the world."
