Tom Cruise makes a special impression with his speech on the plane
On May 7 (US time), Movieweb reported that Tom Cruise won the Best Performance in a Movie category for Top Gun: Maverick at the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards.
The actor's acceptance speech attracted attention. Specifically, Tom Cruise was piloting a plane while thanking fans for voting for him. Behind him was the iconic golden popcorn trophy of the MTV Movie & TV Awards.
“Hello everyone. Thank you so much for this award. I made these films for the audience. I love you and I love entertaining you. I know how much you like and appreciate the film. There is nothing more wonderful than that,” the 60-year-old actor said excitedly.
Tom believes that Top Gun: Maverick has successfully “revived” the movie theater business after the pandemic paralysis. Therefore, he hopes that people will continue to support him by going to the theater to see his next big movie project, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One.
According to Movieweb, this year's MTV Movie & TV Awards are a pretty tough and unpredictable competition. The nominees for this award include Austin Butler for Elvis, Florence Pugh for Don't Worry Darling, Keke Palmer for Nope and Michael B. Jordan for Creed III.
This is also one of many times Tom Cruise has received this nomination. The actor's first nomination was in 1993 for his role in A Few Good Men. He has won twice before for Jerry Maguire (1997) and Mission: Impossible 2 (2001).
