On November 15, Ms. Park Eun Jung, Chief Representative of the Korea Tourism Organization in Vietnam, came to Phu Quoc to express her deep gratitude to Mr. Tran Hoang Phuong, a fruit seller in this special zone.
Mr. Phuong was honored for his noble act of helping a Korean tourist find his mother who got lost during a trip.
At Mr. Phuong's fruit shop on Tran Hung Dao Street, Ms. Park Eun Jung and leaders of Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee met, visited and shared with Mr. Phuong and his family.
Mr. Phuong emotionally recounted the whole story of how he helped a Korean tourist find his lost mother. The Korean Tourism Organization expressed their sincere thanks and presented meaningful souvenirs to Mr. Phuong.

Sharing with reporters, Ms. Park Eun Jung said that the story of Mr. Phuong's kindness has been widely spread and received great attention from the media in Korea.
"In recent times, we have seen an increase in the number of Korean tourists coming to Vietnam, especially Phu Quoc. They love this place because of its beautiful scenery and unique products.
Mr. Phuong's actions have made that beauty even more radiant. We are deeply moved and want to go there to thank him," said Ms. Park Eun Jung.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan, Vice Chairwoman of Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee, also expressed her welcome, recognition and respect for Mr. Phuong's actions.
She stressed that this action has spread a positive message of hospitality to domestic and foreign tourists.
Currently, the local government is actively encouraging people, the business community and party members to raise their sense of responsibility, building Phu Quoc into a sustainable, friendly and hospitable destination, with the motto "every citizen is a tourism ambassador".
Earlier, at around 7pm on November 2, while at a fruit shop, Mr. Phuong was asked by two Korean tourists to help him find his lost mother. The mother, about 70 years old, was no longer lucid, making her children extremely worried.
After about 15 minutes of checking the camera, Mr. Phuong discovered that the old woman had passed by his store. Seeing that her children were still walking in the middle of the street looking for their mother, Mr. Phuong asked his wife to watch the store, then took her son on a motorbike to look for her. After finding their mother, her son sent Mr. Phuong about 500 USD as a thank you, but he firmly refused.
"Seeing them panic and worry, I wanted to help, not thinking about money. Not only foreigners, if Vietnamese people were in that situation, I would also be willing to help within my ability," Mr. Phuong shared about his actions.
