On May 22, at the headquarters of the Chongqing City Foreign Affairs Office, China, Consul General Bui Nguyen Long met with Director of the Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office Vuong Van.

The two sides had in-depth discussions and reached many common perceptions on promoting cooperation and exchange between Vietnam and Chongqing in the coming time.

At the meeting, Consul General Bui Nguyen Long introduced the situation and implementation plan for establishing the Vietnamese Consulate General in Chongqing; requested the authorities and relevant agencies of Chongqing city, especially the Foreign Affairs Office, to create favorable conditions for the opening and operation of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Chongqing.

Director of the Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office Wang Wen warmly congratulated Comrade Bui Nguyen Long on his appointment as Consul General of Vietnam in Chongqing; affirmed that the Chongqing Municipal Government will closely coordinate and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese Consulate General to successfully complete its tasks.

Director of Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office Wang Wen warmly congratulated Comrade Bui Nguyen Long on being appointed to the position of Consul General of Vietnam in Chongqing.

Expressing his honor to assume the position of the first Consul General of Vietnam in Chongqing, Consul General Bui Nguyen Long emphasized that Chongqing is a Chinese locality with a long-standing friendly relationship with Vietnam, where President Ho Chi Minh lived and carried out revolutionary activities; many high-ranking Vietnamese leaders, most recently Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh (November 2024), have visited Chongqing.

In recent times, cooperation in all fields, especially economics , trade and investment, has developed strongly. Vietnam is Chongqing's largest trading partner in ASEAN.

The establishment of the Consulate General in Chongqing demonstrates the importance of the Party and Government of Vietnam to developing friendly and cooperative relations with Chongqing in particular and China in general. Consul General Bui Nguyen Long suggested that the two sides closely coordinate to promote friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between Vietnam and Chongqing to develop more strongly, stably, sustainably and effectively in the coming time.

The Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office is ready to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Consulate General to effectively implement the common perception of the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries; promote the Chongqing relationship with Vietnamese localities to a new height, and make practical contributions to building the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.
