Top 100 best dishes in the world in 2024 "names" Vietnamese beef pho

Pho Bo is the only representative of Vietnam to appear in the ranking of the world's 100 most delicious dishes in 2024 recently announced by Taste Atlas. With 4.44 stars, Pho Bo ranks 93rd on this year's list.

The famous culinary website describes Vietnamese beef pho as having a rich broth simmered from beef bones, beef shank, oxtail with ginger, onions and herbs such as cinnamon, star anise and cloves.

Pho is served hot, in addition to pho noodles there will be different types of beef such as brisket, flank, tendon, beef balls and some herbs sprinkled on top such as onions and coriander.

Topping the list this year is Lechona with 4.78 stars. This traditional Colombian dish consists of a roasted pig stuffed with onions, peas, fresh herbs and other spices.

Coming in second is the Neapolitan pizza (Napoletana) with 4.75 stars. This is an iconic creation of Italian cuisine, believed to have originated in the early 1700s.

Authentic Pizza Napoletana is made with a few simple ingredients and comes in two flavors. One is marinara topped with tomato sauce flavored with garlic and oregano; the other is margherita topped with tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil—a combination whose colors are said to represent the Italian flag.

Next is the Brazilian picanha with 4.69 stars. The cut of meat chosen for this steak is the rump of beef. Out of about 5kg of rump of beef, people only use 1.5kg to make the picanha steak. This "selected" cut of meat is low in fat and firm. Therefore, it must be grilled properly so that the meat is not tough.

This dish is quite expensive so it is not really popular. When eating, the chef will directly cut the meat at the table so that diners can enjoy the hot dish.

Also in the top 10 are Algeria's traditional rechta, Thailand's Panang curry, Argentina's Asado meat, Türkiye's Çökertme kebabı, Indonesia's Rawon beef soup, Türkiye's kebab, and Ethiopian tibs.

Immediately after its announcement, this list received a lot of criticism and debate from many sides. It is known that this year's results are based on 367,847 valid reviews with 11,258 dishes in the world.

The World's 100 Best Dishes is a ranking within the framework of the annual Taste Atlas awards, based on the votes and scores of food critics, chefs and gourmets around the world.

Founded in 2015, Taste Atlas (headquartered in Zagreb, Croatia) is known as a map that brings together traditional dishes from around the world.

According to Matija Babić, founder of Taste Atlas, the food and beverage rankings are based on opinions and reviews from experts and food critics to ensure the reliability of the awards.
