According to the project to separate Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted by the Ho Chi Minh City Departmentof Education and Training, the two new Tran Dai Nghia schools will enroll students immediately for the 2024-2025 school year.

Accordingly, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted will be divided into 2 schools and enroll students as follows:

Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, located at Lot P2, 38.4-hectare resettlement area, An Khanh Ward, Thu Duc City: enrolling 10th grade students for specialized classes in math, literature, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology, each class has 35 students, and the English specialized class recruits 4 classes: 140 students.

Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School, located at 53 Nguyen Du, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1: enrolls 350 grade 6 students and 450 grade 10 students. If the above project is approved, the enrollment target for grade 6 this year will be much less than last year (last year the target was 535 grade 6 students).

Also according to the above project, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted in Thu Duc City will operate under the regulations of a specialized school. The school will continue to enroll 10th grade students from the age of 15, with intelligence, good results in training and studying at the secondary school level and the ability to study at a specialized school.

Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School will enroll students from secondary to high school who are healthy, have good morals, and have average or above average academic performance. The school will operate according to the model of a high-quality school - international integration.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, this model is not the same as the advanced, internationally integrated school model that many high schools in Ho Chi Minh City are implementing.

It is known that the enrollment of grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School will be conducted through a survey set by the Department, and the enrollment of grade 10 will be conducted during the city-wide grade 10 enrollment period.

Split Tran Dai Nghia School to keep the secondary school system

It is known that the separation of Tran Dai Nghia School as above comes from the provisions of the education law and specialized school regulations regarding not allowing non-specialized classes to exist in specialized schools.

Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted was established in 2000 and currently has more than 3,000 students at the junior high and high school levels. In addition to the high school level, which is recruited and educated like other specialized high schools, Tran Dai Nghia School has made a strong mark in the education of students at the junior high level.

Especially strong in scientific research, foreign languages, nurturing excellent students and comprehensive educational activities.

Therefore, this is also the "hottest" public school in Ho Chi Minh City at the secondary level. Every year, the school recruits 6th grade students by taking a test according to the questions of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.

The "competition" ratio to enter grade 6 is usually at 1 "competition" of 7 to 1 "competition" of 9. In 2023, there were 4,800 candidates registered to enter grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia School while the enrollment quota was 535 students.
