Handing over the French-era building used as police headquarters, Da Nang City People's Council requests clarification of its function

The People's Council of Da Nang City requested clarification of the suitability of the function of using the ancient French building at 1 Pasteur as the office of Hai Chau Ward Police.

On November 3, the People's Council of Da Nang City sent a document to the People's Committee of Da Nang City regarding the arrangement of police headquarters in wards in the city.

Accordingly, the Standing Committee of the People's Council of Da Nang City requested the People's Committee of Da Nang City to direct departments and branches to clarify the suitability of the function, scale, and architecture of the house and land at No. 1 Pasteur when arranging it as the office of Hai Chau Ward Police to ensure regulations and responsibilities in the management and use of valuable architectural works.

At the same time, the city should prioritize considering arranging this location to serve the cultural sector.

Previously, on October 28, the People's Committee of Da Nang City issued an official dispatch agreeing on the policy of arranging houses and land for the City Police to manage and use as working headquarters (after receiving the consensus of the Ministry of Public Security ) of Hai Chau Ward Police at house and land No. 1 Pasteur (headquarters of the City Women's Union) and Cam Le Ward Police at house and land No. 92 Nguyen Nhan (headquarters of public service units under the People's Committee of Cam Le Ward).

However, recently, many voters and cultural figures have expressed their opinions on the need to consider using the house and land at 1 Pasteur appropriately to preserve the city's remaining rare valuable architectural and artistic works.

Because the house and land facility No. 1 Pasteur is a French architectural work (the residence of the Director of the Central Customs and Public Administration Department) which has been identified by the City People's Committee as a valuable architectural work of the city in 2023.

According to Tuoi Tre Online 's investigation, in June and July 2025, the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum also proposed to arrange an additional location at No. 1 Pasteur as a second facility because this place has ancient French architecture and a highly aesthetic space, very suitable for organizing thematic exhibitions and in-depth events on fine arts.

At the same time, the addition of this facility is to have more space for the storage of artifacts.

Check the land

Also in the official dispatch dated November 3, the Standing Committee of the Da Nang City People's Council requested the Da Nang City People's Committee to report on the implementation of the review and handover of land plots managed by the City Police that are no longer in use after reorganization to the city to serve local socio -economic development as requested by the City People's Council.

The Standing Committee of the City People's Council requested the City People's Committee to direct the implementation and report the review results to the Standing Committee of the City People's Council before November 7.
