The People's Committee of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City has just provided information on parking prices in District 1 after the reflection of "Chaos in parking prices in the center of Ho Chi Minh City" by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper.
Accordingly, to check the parking of vehicles at the correct price, the People's Committee of District 1 has issued many directive documents, including Official Dispatch 3737/2022 on strengthening the inspection of parking service prices during the New Year and Lunar New Year 2023.
The District 1 price inspection team inspected 19 parking lots in the central area. At the time of inspection, the parking lots posted prices and collected the correct prices according to Decision 35/2018 (on the maximum price for parking services invested by non-state budget capital in the city).

District 1 People's Committee has directed the District 1 Price Inspection Team to coordinate with the People's Committees of 10 wards to mobilize parking lots to sign a commitment not to collect parking fees exceeding the prescribed prices according to Decision 35.
However, parking overcharges can occur in spontaneous parking lots during major city festivals or when authorities are not present in time to handle the incident.
District 1 People's Committee said it will direct the District 1 Price Inspection Team to coordinate with the District Urban Order Management Team and the People's Committees of 10 wards to continue to strengthen inspections and thoroughly handle the situation of illegal parking and parking at prices exceeding the prescribed price.
District 1 also hopes that the press and people will promptly and specifically inform about locations where parking is overpriced.
Previously, on February 27, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper published an article "Chaos in parking prices in the center of Ho Chi Minh City", reflecting that in the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, many sidewalks and roads have been turned into parking lots with "circus" fees.
Typically, parking at the parking lot on the sidewalk of Ton That Thiep Street (the first section intersects with Nguyen Hue walking street, Ben Nghe ward, District 1); parking lot on the sidewalk of Ton That Thiep Street with a price of 20,000 VND.
In addition to Ton That Thiep Street, the sidewalks of Hai Trieu, Ngo Duc Ke, Thi Sach Streets... in District 1 are also occupied. There are hundreds of motorbikes parked at any given time. If you park from 6am to 5pm, the price is 10,000 VND/time, from 5pm to 11pm it is 15,000 - 20,000 VND, depending on the location. After 11pm, vehicles are moved to other parking lots and charged an overnight rate.
