Ho Chi Minh City: Duc Nhuan Ward organizes a walk to raise funds to support people in need.

(NLĐO) - At the program, Duc Nhuan ward received more than 3.9 billion VND from organizations, units, businesses, and individuals to care for people in need.

On the morning of December 14th, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Duc Nhuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, organized a walk with the theme "Duc Nhuan: Compassionate and United for the Community" to raise funds for the ward's social welfare program in 2025.

Attending the program were Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Major General Vu Van Dien, Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Command; Ms. Tran Kim Yen, National Assembly representative, former Head of the Inspection Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association; and Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Phuong, Secretary of the Party Committee - Chairwoman of the People's Council of Duc Nhuan Ward.

With the participation of over 1,000 athletes including officials, civil servants, workers, and citizens, the event aimed to encourage units and individuals to contribute funds to care for disadvantaged and homeless people in the ward.

The leaders of Duc Nhuan ward received and thanked the organizations for their support to the locality.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Duc Nhuan Ward, said that since its establishment on July 1, 2025, continuing the tradition of mutual support and noble compassion of the former Phu Nhuan District, social welfare activities and care for the poor have been regularly maintained by the ward in many diverse forms with the motto "leaving no one behind".

Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Phuong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People's Council of Duc Nhuan Ward, gave the starting signal.

Over the past period, the ward has organized many fundraising activities to carry out social welfare activities under the motto "Duc Nhuan's compassion, working together for the community".

Notable events include the Vegetarian Food Festival combined with cultural and artistic performances, which successfully raised 300 million VND. Following that, a successful Pickleball tournament was organized to raise 555 million VND for social fundraising.

The walk was held at Gia Dinh Park with a route of 2.7 km through Hoang Minh Giam Street - Dao Duy Anh Street - Ho Van Hue Street - Nguyen Kiem Street - Dang Van Sam Street

With today's "Walk for the Poor" program, the ward continues the successful annual "Walk for the Poor" program organized by the former Phu Nhuan district for the past 22 years.

"This is not only a sporting activity that promotes health and strengthens community bonds, but it also embodies profound humanistic values, reflecting the fine tradition of 'helping those in need'," emphasized the Chairman of the People's Committee of Duc Nhuan Ward.

At the event, the organizing committee received 3.939 billion VND from sponsors, businesses, agencies, organizations, religious institutions, officials, civil servants, party members, armed forces personnel, and people inside and outside the ward.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao stated that the money will be used by the ward for social welfare purposes, focusing on supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals; providing scholarships to help students continue their education; caring for the elderly and those living alone; building and repairing charitable and compassionate houses; and providing livelihood resources for near-poor households...
