Tran Quang Minh (Huong Son, Ha Tinh) is in the process of extremely stressful exam preparation. The student plans to take the exam for semiconductor technology at a university in Hanoi . However, Quang Minh is still worried because he does not know if his academic ability is good enough to take the exam because he does not know where his ability is compared to his peers. "I am considering another major related to automobiles or electronics, both of which majors I am interested in. But I am still uncertain about which school and which major is suitable for me," Quang Minh shared.

Every year when exam season comes, the story of choosing a school and major becomes more of a headache than ever.

This is also the reality that many 12th graders across the country are facing. The 2025 high school graduation exam has more than 1.17 million candidates registered to take the exam, an increase of more than 90,000 candidates compared to 2024, a race that is not "easy". Therefore, a tool for students to know where they really stand among more than 1 million candidates is very necessary for them to have the best career and school choice for themselves.

In the past, choosing a major or school was often based on feelings or referring to previous years' benchmark scores. However, with the development of technology, students and parents increasingly tend to use data tools to see where their abilities are among millions of other candidates to make more accurate decisions.

After much hesitation, Tran Quang Minh "relyed on" SchoolRank to know where he was in the student rankings.

FPT University's SchoolRank high school student ranking tool was launched in 2020, allowing students to look up their academic rankings based on their grade 11 and first semester grades. Based on the ATAR methodology from Australia, combined with big data algorithms and artificial intelligence, the tool analyzes each individual's abilities compared to thousands of their peers nationwide. The results on SchoolRank will classify students into groups from "Top 10" to "Top 50", thereby providing suggestions for choosing majors and schools that match their strengths and chances of admission. SchoolRank is not just a technology tool - but a companion full of understanding, helping students "see themselves" in the overall picture of the high school exam, encouraging high school students to confidently reach their dream university.

Scholarship opportunities and financial policies from FPT University

SchoolRank is also one of the important criteria that FPT University uses in the admission process, scholarship consideration and financial policy. Candidates who achieve the "Top 50" and have a total score of three subjects in the second semester of grade 12 from 21 points will be eligible for admission to the school. Those in the "Top 40" have the opportunity to participate in the "Study first - Pay later" program, allowing tuition to be paid gradually within 5 years after graduation. The "Top 10" will be eligible for the School scholarship, worth up to 100% of tuition fees.

Looking back on his 12th grade years, Nguyen Trung Nguyen cannot forget the important milestone when he first learned about SchoolRank. Nguyen said: “I achieved a place in the Top 30 of SchoolRank. This is not a very high ranking, but fortunately, this achievement was enough to help me register for the school's scholarship exam.”

Nguyen (far left) is a K18 student majoring in Artificial Intelligence, FPT University.

According to the boy born in 2004, his motivation to study for the exam at that time was not only to win a scholarship to help "lighten" the financial burden when studying at university, but also because he was interested in the dynamiceducational environment of FPT University. "I know that the school always focuses on implementing highly practical training programs, creating conditions for students to quickly access real projects and scientific research works, under the dedicated support of a team of highly specialized lecturers."

Entering FPT University with a 70% scholarship, Software Engineering was Nguyen’s first major choice. However, the deeper he delved into mathematics and its potential applications, the more he realized that AI – the fascinating intersection of mathematics and technology – was truly the “destination” that suited his interests and direction.

SchoolRank becomes the "guide" of many new generation students

Not just a technology product, SchoolRank represents a part of FPT University's long-term mission: accompanying Vietnamese students on the journey of "understanding themselves - choosing the right major - walking the right path".

As one of the pioneering universities applying technology to education, FPT continuously updates international training models, combining theory, practice, entrepreneurship and critical thinking, to train global citizens - understanding themselves, understanding society and ready to step into the future without hesitation to change.
