There are 616educational establishments in the province, with over 23,400 administrators, teachers, staff and 370,000 students. Schools have actively coordinated to equip knowledge and skills on fire prevention and fighting for staff, teachers and students, contributing to minimizing risks and limiting damage caused by fires and explosions.

Mr. Quang Van Lam, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, informed: Implementing Circular No. 06/2022/TT-BGDDT guiding the provision of knowledge and skills on fire prevention and fighting and rescue for students in educational institutions, the Department has deployed to 100% of schools on fire prevention and fighting tasks and solutions in educational institutions. Integrating and disseminating fire prevention and fighting content into the curriculum and extracurricular activities of schools and educational institutions. Organizing teachers, staff and students to sign a commitment on fire prevention and fighting in schools and residences.
Accordingly, at preschool level, fire prevention lessons are integrated with a hypothetical fire situation in the classroom, instructing children to move to a safe place, not to hide in hard-to-find places, or small spaces... Organize for children to participate in experiential activities "learning to be a firefighter", "Children practice being a firefighter".
For primary, secondary, high school students and continuing education centers, propaganda about fire prevention and fighting is integrated into the content of civic education, during the flag salute at the beginning of the week and extracurricular activities. Through that, instructions on how to handle fire and explosion incidents; escape skills in fire conditions; instructions on how to use fire extinguishers; first aid techniques for victims; and dissemination of the fire alarm phone number (114).
Lo Viet Hoang, class 11A6, To Hieu High School, City, shared: The school organizes extracurricular activities to promote fire prevention and fighting. Through that, we learn how to use fire fighting equipment and how to escape safely in case of fire or explosion.
In addition, implementing the coordination regulations between the Department of Education and Training and the Provincial Police in fire prevention and rescue work, the Department has directed educational institutions, especially those with boarding and semi-boarding students, to proactively coordinate with the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department and the Police of districts and cities to develop fire prevention and rescue plans. Inspect and correct errors and shortcomings, improve forces and equipment for fire prevention and rescue work; disseminate and foster knowledge and skills on fire prevention and rescue for cadres, teachers, employees and students.
From 2023 to present, the units have proactively integrated and coordinated with the functional forces to organize 14 propaganda, experience, and practice fire fighting and rescue for over 7,400 students. Organized joint fire fighting and rescue practice at 8 schools. At the same time, inspected fire safety and rescue for 616 units and educational establishments in the province. Through the inspection, recommendations were made to the units to overcome shortcomings and limitations in fire prevention and rescue work.
Currently, 100% of units under the Department of Education and Training have established fire prevention and fighting teams according to regulations. The teams are responsible for inspecting the implementation of fire prevention and fighting regulations at agencies, units, and schools, in order to detect and correct shortcomings that can cause fires to spread and become large fires. Regularly review and inspect electrical systems and fire prevention and fighting systems, promptly repair damages that can cause fires and explosions; provide basic and adequate fire prevention and fighting and rescue equipment according to regulations.
Ms. Pham Thi Thuan, Principal of Son La High School for the Gifted, said: The school has 10 buildings, with 42 classrooms and functional rooms. The school has established a fire prevention and fighting team of 22 members, including officers, teachers and staff in the school. At the same time, it is fully equipped with fire prevention and fighting equipment according to regulations, such as wall fire hydrants; fire hydrants, automatic fire alarm systems; signs, fire alarms, 146 fire extinguishers placed in hallways, classrooms...
Proactive fire prevention and fighting and search and rescue at schools in the province has contributed to promoting the movement of the whole population participating in fire prevention and fighting and search and rescue, making this work a regular task at educational institutions, creating a change in fire prevention awareness for staff, teachers and students, and being proactive in all possible situations.
